So, I am going to Kissimmee in 39 days. We JUST booked tonight and I am so excited I could scream! My dbf's parents own time share and give him a week every year...We had some dates we were going to go but no luck finding anything open..well, tonight Orlando/Kissimmiee had an opening for July 27-Aug. 3 so we took it. Since I have 39 days here is where I need help! I want to do the beach a couple days (suggestions on which one?) and I want to do a theme park too...being a LOVER of Disney I want to do it but it would only be 1 day. Should we or should we choose Legoland or Sea World. We will be going to Disney for Spring Break 2016 as well.
Also, any other cheap stuff we can do or suggestions? Not a lot of time to save and I am a teacher so off for the summer currently.
It is dbf, me and my son who will have just turned 5.

Seaworld would be my choice with a five year old, I think.
Legoland if he likes Legos, but I think he's a bit young yet?
Have fun planning!

OMG a bit young at 5? Heck no. 5 is the perfect age for LEGOLAND. If they're into LEGO. By 10'ish they're getting to the upper end of the ideal spot. 5 is absolutely perfect.

DisKY, if you want a coupon from the magazine just PM I'll mail you one. We have 3 kids getting the mag, so happy to send you a coupon. It's buy an adult, get a kid in free. Effectively, that's a good $70 savings per kid you use it on, but anyone who goes to LEGOLAND w any regularity knows you can find these, so it's more or less expected.

If you do it, bring lots of minifigs. Any CM will freely trade w your kid whatever minifigs they have on their nametag for whatever minifigs your kids bring. It's major fun. For a 5-year old, blows pin-trading out of the sky!

I for sure want a coupon! We would buy 2 adults so a savings for him for free would be great! Can you use the coupon online as well or just at the park?! From what I have seen that seems to have the most for his age besides Disney of course!
The mini figures sound neat...can you buy them at any store before hand and then trade there or do they have to be bought at the parks only? This is all new. He likes Legos so I thought this would be neat. I am going to send you a PM as well.

I agree that 5 is a great age for Legoland. We took my son for his 10th birthday and we felt he was getting too old.

My son is nearly 22. It's hard to remember when Legos started to be a thing for him. I was just thinking about the age range they show on the boxes ...which I believe say 5-? and 8-? Therefore thinking 5 was on the low end. I had heard that by 10-12 the park was too young for the kids, so it seems a very narrow range of ages it highly appeals to.

Glad some folks came back with better advice. I would have loved to go there with a young child. Too bad for us.

For the Beach - Sand Key park over by Clearwater beach, It just over the bridge from Clearwater and is a great family park it gets you away from all the beach week party atmosphere, Also Fort Desoto is another great beach, with a lot to do, you can explore the fort, rental bike, kayaks.

For us I would choose Magic Kingdom, for the day. I would need my Disney fix, after all it will be almost a whole year before you come back. But at 5 LEGOLAND is perfect, also they have a small water park, you might want to check to see if it will still be open when you are here. There might be some discounted tickets or combo tickets.

Check out the website site Florida on a tankful, there are lots of ideas on places to go and I find most of them not very costly.

You could spend the day at DTD , movie, bowling, Disney quest or maybe a water park, for a 5 year old I suggest typhoon lagoon, I think that the rides here are more for that age.

Lots of places for mini golf. Also the eye over Orlando has opened, while we haven't been, I have seen and heard they offer some type of combination tickets.

Check out Groupon

I'd choose Magic Kingdom and Cocoa Beach. My brother lives near Orlando and Cocoa is his closest beach. It's very family-friendly. Magic Kingdom is just the best park, especially for a 5 yr old, and one day.

You could spend a day going to disney hotels. Character breakfast if you can afford it, but you can collect pennies, ride the monorail, eat a counter service, play a game in the arcade. We did that once when our kids were little with the cousins. We did go to MK for one day but the other days we did DTD, Chef Mickey's, rode the monorail to the Poly (looked all around), rode the monorail to the Grand Floridian, etc. We also visited Animal Kingdom Lodge. The kids really enjoyed it and we loved looking at the resorts and planning the next trip. Between DTD and the resorts we easily spent two days (we had time to swim at our hotel and eat out, etc)
