Dramatic title I know, but I'm seriously at a loss. Currently I have my family booked at the ASMu in a family suite for 11/23-12/01. Now that the pin codes for dinning are roaming around, I'm hoping it will be offered for our dates. If it is, we'll want the regular dinning plan and not the quick service. I've priced it out, and the total ends up being enough to upgrade to a moderate. Would you do two rooms at my preference POR, a cabin at Ft. Wilderness, or stay where we are and upgrade the dinning? I will note that during free dinning I always raise my children's ages to 10...the price in the ticket is only $20, and we easily make that up in food. :) However, that is almost $900 to upgrade for the 8 nights at the value. Thanks in advance for the good advice!

So if I'm reading the OP right, it is a question of choosing:
1. ASMu suite with free QSDP+ pay to upgrade to DDP
2. 2 standard connecting rooms at POR with free DDP
3. Ft. Wilderness cabing with free DDP

Did I get it right? If the costs are the same then I guess it all comes down to personal preference on the resorts. I know I'd probably choose POR since it is one of our favourite resorts. Not a great fan of the cabins unless you are using your own car. Seems like it's a little more difficult transpo wise.

But if you and your family really like the theming of the value resorts, then why not just stay where you're already booked and upgrade the dining?

I'm assuming that you've already done the Disney math and decided that free dining would be cheaper for your family than getting a room discount and buying the DDP or paying for food OOP.

hmm I think the cheapest option would be to do the FW Cabins :) Then you at least get a kitchen for breakfast and such if you need it! Not sure it's the most comfortable route though.

I've done 2 moderate rooms during FD before and it's $$ to pay rack rate times two. The upside of that is you have four queen beds and 2 bathrooms so it would just depend on what your finances look like and what's best for your family.

my first choice if going on comfort and ability to relax would be
2 moderate rooms
then FW cabins
then 2 value rooms

however price wise my choice would be
FW Cabins
2 value rooms
2 moderate rooms

just have to weigh what's more important

That's correct. The difference in price isn't much...so I guess it is personal preference...lol. :rolleyes1I guess I want your opinoins, we have done both the family suites and POR. I don't know much about the cabins. Are there two bathrooms? Is the transportation difficult? We like the family suite, but it was a little tight at night when the beds were out. I don't love the theming of AsMu or the food court, but it certainly will do.

is FD even offered with the Suite? I think in the past it's been excluded but I could be wrong.

There's only 1 bathroom in the cabin so to get 2 bathrooms without doing a suite or busting your budget for a villa you'd have to do 2 rooms

Only the suites at AofA are included according to the PIN offer that I got for the fall dining. your arrival date of 11/23 is included in the offer that I received. Not sure if the info will be exactly the same when they open it to the public, but here's what it says.

"The number of packages available for this offer is limited. Minimum length-of-stay requirements may apply. Tickets are for one Theme Park per day and must be used within 14 days of first use. No group rates or other discounts apply. Offer excludes campsites and 3-bedroom villas, Disney's Art of Animation Resort suites included. All other suites excluded. Advance reservations required. Offer is nontransferable."

We're doing 2 LM rooms at AofA and it is quite a bit cheaper than the family suite at AofA and we don't fit into a family suite anyway, lol.

Thanks for the fine print...the kids would be thrilled with Art of Animation, but POP would probably be cheaper. We are POP people. :thumbsup2 Still considering 2 rooms at a moderate because of the price to upgrade the dinning plan. Last year we did free dinning in September and AsMu family suites were included. So, that's what I was going off of. I may look in to offsite too. While I'm asking questions how is the week after Thanksgiving? Will it be super busy? :confused3

Ok, with my family, we'd be 10 people in three rooms at Pop, hopefully with free QSDP. I priced out three rooms at a moderate, or two cabins at FW vs. paying the difference in price for the upgrade to DDP and staying at Pop.
It was still much cheaper to stay at Pop.
I'd rework your numbers. You might be figuring the difference in the upgrade wrong. [Unless I'm misunderstanding.]

Happy planning! :wizard:

$900 upgrade to moderate sounds about right. I did my figuring last month, and I came up with about the same amount for upgrading our 2 value rooms to 2 moderate rooms for the same amount of time (but in December).

As for crowds, you can look on several disney blogs to find the crowd calendar.
