Those of you who have done the Disney Cruise on points, does your points cover gratuity at the end of the cruise or is all of that out of pocket. I have never cruised so I didn't know about this but I heard on other cruises at the end of the cruise you pay gratuity based on how much you paid for the cruise. Does DVC points cover this or is it OOP. The cruise isn't for me I'm giving it to my little sister for her honeymoon and they had the question.

No the gratuity is not covered on points for DCL cruises. The only exception is the DVC Member cruise.

The recommended gratuity is approx $15 a day per person and you pay at the end, or you can pre pay your gratuities with DCL after you make the reservation.

I'm not sure how it works on a Disney cruise, but on most other cruise lines, the bartenders are not included in the daily gratuity, so you should tip them separately as you go.

Have a great time! We are going on our first DCL cruise in November 2011.

To whom does the tip go?

Your Dining Room Team, and Stateroom attendant are included in the $15 a day estimate. You can tip others at time of service, like Room service, laundry, bartenders or anyone else.

You can charge the tips to your stateroom and the castmembers will receive a gratuity ticket stating how much or you can deliver it personally.

Actually, I believe tips on drinks are automatic. Celebrity is that way also.

Also, the other tipping is not based on what you paid for the cruise,
but a standard recommended amount for everyone (including children).

Enjoy your cruise! We love them.

Unfortunately I'm not going. It is for my sisters honeymoon. The New Years Cruise. My fiance is afraisd to cruise he keeps thinking some kind of illness will break out on the ship... I think he watches too much TV. So one of these days I will go with someone else...maybe a girls trip (me mom and sis) in the future???

Well, I hope your sister enjoys her cruise!

My husband really didn't want to cruise. But it was a big birthday for me and figured that would be the only way I would get him to go. But it being DCL helped tremendously. He loves everything Disney, so it made him feel more comfortable. Each year we cruise more than the last. 2009 we spent 20 days total on cruise ships! Try talking him into a Disney cruise! Good luck!
