So we are headed to Disney in September!!! :cool1: Can't wait. We have figured out our halloween costumes for MNSSHP but I am having a dilemna! :confused3 We are schedule to eat in Norway with the princesses. Our trip is with family and there are three girls. My one daughter is 7 and has a great princess dress up dress, my niece is 4 and I am so excited to get to go with her, she will also have a great dress up dress. My older daughter is 9. So technically she isn't a tween yet but really, close enough. Plus, she is 55" tall!! I have been looking for something for her to wear to the meal because she still kind of wants to dress up but there isn't much affordable dress up in her size out there, add to that that she doesn't want a "typical" dress up dress because that is too little kid-ish. I had hoped I had found a solution in this tween Aurora dress http://www.amazon.com/Aurora-Tween-Costume-Size-7-8/dp/B008DHQS6C but it only comes in a 7-8 and she really needs the 9-10. :headache: I am hoping I can convince her to wear the snow white version but she is 9 and she is being kind of stubborn. I am looking for any new a brilliant ideas!!! I have been looking for aurora t-shirts to see if I could try to make something but apparently Aurora is out of fashion right now, I can't find any shirts her size anywhere! Please hit me with whatever you've got and I will run it all by my sweet girl. This is probably our last disney trip for a while and I really want to do it right. :cheer2: Thanks for any help you all can give!

I made my daughter a tutu in Cinderella colors for our last trip. It was silvery white, light and dark blue. She wore it with a Cinderella tshirt, over a pair of shorts. Was very comfy for her and easy to throw in the backpack when she was done. Maybe you could make an aurora one, in pinks and white for her to wear.

Couple of options:

Go to the Disney Store, Most of the costumes are available in Size 10. Pick something short ish to begin with like Pocahontas or Alice in Wonderland Alice (not going to find this one). Glinda or Theodora or the China Girl from Oz would be good choices also. Actually the Theodora costume is not on TDS website but IS in our TDS Outlet and it's very hip and stylish.

You could make something. There are patterns for (or at least will work for) many Disney characters.

If she's looking to sport something a little more mature, look into DisneyBound to get some clever ideas.

I agree with PP. Have you tried maybe to find a skirt in Aurora colors? Then she'll be comfortable, AND she can wear it again as an every day thing (at 22, this is how all my costumes are made). You could even just buy a pink skirt and then spray it with gold glitter.

My 9 year old is about 58 inches and wears a size 10/12. No way she can wear the size 10 costumes. I would suggest making the tutu suggested by another and you can customize a shirt w/ Aurora on Disney's site. My 9 year old wouldn't dress up but my 11 year old did at age 9 but she could still wear the princess costumes and if she couldn't I would have made the tutu and shirt. Good luck.

My DD did BBB on our 2011 trip and she was 9 at the time. She too was not into a full princess costume. We found a Tiana themed skirt at BBB which was very pretty green with a Lilly on the waist. She wore the skirt with a light green tank and her own sandals. It really looked cute. I believe the skirt cost was $30.00 at BBB.

Good luck! I know Tweens can sometimes be a difficult age...not completely wanting to dress up but wanting to do their own version of princess attire.

We went last year and my daughter was 10 and we had the same issue. She wanted to dress up for Halloween but didn't want to be a baby as she put it. We brought two costumes and she wore both during our trip. One was the Rapunzel wedding dress ad the other was a Maleficent costume. The Maleficent costume got the most attention from other people and the characters. When she met Aurora and Phillip they spent a good deal of time with her making sure wasn't there to trick them and steal Aurora, lol.

Here is the Rapunzel dress:

I can't find an Aurora shirt, otherwise I would definately do the skirt idea. I will share the other ideas with my sweet girl but keep them coming! THanks!

If you like the dress you found on Amazon google the name and see if there are any other sellers. Many times there are additional places to purchase a item carried by amazon.

I was just at Party City last night and they are getting their Halloween costumes in. Normally, I suggest spending the money for a higher quality costume, but in your case cheap might be better since she probably won't wear it again.

For my tween DD, following the color scheme and theme ideas was enough for her.

She did the mermaid makeover and her favorite princess is Ariel. So we got an aqua blue tank top and a long purple skirt. She was thrilled and felt very "dressed up" and themed.

Check out "Disney Bounding" threads and blogs.

Here are a few things I found, but there really isn't much out there for Aurora right now.

This is a Junior's size, but maybe she would fit into the extra small? Also not sure how she would feel about the scene on it at her age: http://www.wetseal.com/catalog/product.jsp?categoryId=101&subCategoryId=215&productId=68001

This one is from an etsy seller:

And she can look at these designs on Disney's create your own part of the site to make a shirt: http://www.disneystore.com/disney/store/DSIPageDisplayView?storeId=10051&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&N=36513+109&URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.zazzle.com%2Fdisneyiframe%2Fiframe_characters%3Fdp%3D252175184843195737%26cg%3D196014652070988726&basePageZone=DisneyZazzlePageZone&productId=5035d5e3d5059c352ce72324aa764a8b
