help with summer packing list

Misting fans at WM are in the section with all their other fans.

We take brimmed hats with chin straps on our summer trips - they shade more skin (I've already had basal cell cancer) and you can hang them down your back on most rides. You can also sit on them and/or run the belt through the chin strap. Much superior to baseball hats IMO.

No denim in the parks. The boys wear their nylon scout pants with zip off legs.

Get cheap, disposable ponchos at WM ($1.29 ea). They are small and stuff anywhere you have room and you can toss them at the end of the day. We always have plenty on hand since the kids are in scouts, but we take at least 2 per person to theme park vacations. We carry 1 per person in the parks.

We take something to keep water bottles in / on our person. We take two new water bottles in each day (for 4 people) and refill all day long.

3 years ago, I wore my regular tennis shoes that I wear everyday. I got the worst blisters ever. They were so bad I could hardly walk by mid week. I tried moleskin but it kept coming off. I use those Bandaid blister bandaids. They work miracles. I also bought a pair of Mickey crocs on the last day. So comfortable. Last year, I wore the Mickey crocs and another pair of looser style crocs, no blisters.

We've become experts in going in June... (We will actually be there exactly when you will be!). We got married there in June, my best friend got married there in July. Since I'm a teacher it's become the easiest time for us to go.

Here are a few packing tips:
1. Bring comfortable shoes - but they need to be comfortable to YOU! So many people will recommend this pair, or that, but you need to bring shoes that are comfortable to you and only you know this. For example: I usually pack a pair of tennis shoes, but NEVER wear them. They actually hurt my ankles and my feet. I am much more comfortable in my sandals. I do recommend bring a few pairs of whatever shoes you decide it's important to give your feet a "break" from only one type of shoe.

2. Make sure to wear your hair different each day - your scalp will get burnt if you don't...

3. Get chapstick with SPF (your lips might get burnt)

4. Depending on where you stay, if you have a mini-fridge stick wet washcloths in a ziplock in the small freezer part. We've also improvised with placing a washcloth in a baggie with ice cubes.

5. We've also fit water bottles in the small freezer part. Drink lots and lots of water, don't wait until you are "soooooo thirsty".

5. We have chosen not to use them, but most people do (and we may very well change our minds when it's not just the two of us!) - ponchos. It will likely rain at least once a day. You can find super cheap ones at home - and then throw them away after use if you'd like to.

6. Don't forget those sunglasses (I try to bring 2 pairs - just in case)!

I think these just regular tips are important because I have been to Disney at other times.
1. Patience. Remember to have patience.
2. Heat takes its toll on children, especially small children. People who are not used to going to Disney at this time tend to not realize that it can affect children.
3. You might take it slow, it's okay. We realized we take our summer trips slower than our other trips - it works for us and we have our best memories from those trips and moments.

Have fun!

Keens or a similar type of shoe in case in rains.

I LOVE my Keen Whispers! After ruining a pair of Birkenstocks walking through huge puddles in DHS, I bought a pair of Keens and never went back, in fact I went a little crazy. A girl has to have several colors to go with everything, right? So comfortable, waterproof, cool, and many cute colors to choose from! :goodvibes

We go in summer as well (6/29-7/7 this year) and my main must have is our own water bottles. This year I'm getting ones with straps for the kids to tote themselves. We fill them with ice at the resort and that keeps us with cold water until 11 or so. Then we just get ice at the nearest QS place to refill them through the day.

And use spray sunscreen on your scalp and ears. People seem to forget those places.

We try to keep our packing light so I don't bring alot of extras. If I am need of somethig I'll just buy it there.
My must haves in the summer:
Dri-fit clothes (no cotton anything)
Teva flip flops
Frogg Toggs (and ziploc baggie to keep them in)
Sunscreen
sunglasses
Baseball cap
pony tail bands
