Help with split season reservation?

From what i have read here, if i start off a reservation in one season (i.e.Peak) and during my stay, the season changes (i.e.Regular), then i would have to literally check out and back in again to get the lower season rate for the second season portion?

So what's the best way to handle the reservation on the phone, with the least confusion? Do i just explain what i'm trying to do to the CSR - trying to make sure i don't pay Peak season rates for the whole stay - do i have to make two separate, consecutive reservations, and worry about having to change rooms?

just tell them you want to make 2 continuning reservations and if they ask why, explain. Ask that they make a note on the first one that it is a continuing ressie. They will do everything they can to keep you in the same room if they know to block it for the whole stay.
