I have been educating myself on this site. I am a bit skeptical about giving my credit card number. I see the Vistana Resort is shown with many date options available into 2005. My questions are.......if you win a bid on this specific resort, what if the dates listed on no longer available and you cannot choose another date? If you win and you do not have your credit card listed, do you lose it or they give you a certain time frame like 24 hrs to contact them? Very nervous but would love to win a great deal for this wonderful resort. Can someone help me? TIA

don't be afraid of Skyauction, they are on the up & up. You need to have your credit card on file with them to bid. If you win, you contact them within a certian time frame & verify your dates and credit card info. If your dates aren't there (even though they were when you bid & that has happened) they will not charge you anything. I have used them and never had a problem. The only thing that I don't like about them is that they charge you a $15 shipping fee for your documentation but they tell you to print it out from your computer. I couldn't get my printer to work the last time I won an auction & I made them mail me my docs...hey if you are paying the $15, why should you use your paper & ink to print it out when they are charging you to mail it (and it is several pages long) that makes no sence to me & is my only complaint.

Just came back from Vistana. It was awesome.

This is a HUGE resort. Chances of them not having availability, I would think, are slim. There are presently auctions going on right now for Oct. 3 and Oct. 17, 2004. Did I say this was a huge resort??:teeth:

And mickeyfan is right. You can't even bid without a cc on file.

Don't worry. As long as you do your research and ask any questions you want on this board, you'll do fine. I was scared too at first, but now that I've won three auctions (one was for a friend), I feel like I know what I'm doing. Well, mostly. ;)

THanks to both of you. Feel a little better. I saw that October 3 for this year, I believe it is gone with the final bid at $25.00. WOW! I noticed when they offer just one specific date, and within a few weeks or month away, these tend to win at very low bids. Am I right? The ones that I have been looking at into the Fall of 2005, are higher, of course with a huge selection of dates.
One other thing I am confused though, you said I can't bid with no cc on file, but I did........what is going on??

You can bid on an auction without a credit card on file, however if you do win you run the risk of losing the auction if Skyauction can not get there money immediately following the auction. That is why you need a credit card to be on file. And you are right, you do tend to get the best deals on auctions that list a single date for check-in. We got the Vistana on a 1-dollar bid. With the fees it came out to be $211 for a week.
