Hi.. I am new to the board. Been here about a day now and have already found some great advice!

I am planning on spending my Honeymoon at Disney. I have not been to the Magic Kingdom in about 20 years and the same for my finace. I originally started looking at a value hotel on the property but then started reading reviews and started having concerns (no dinin rooms at the hotels, long transpotation wait times..etc) Now I have jumped to the other price range and I am thinking about a Deluxe hotel . So far I have been looking at the Polynesian.

Does anyone have any advice on where to stay? And maybe some money saving tips for booking the hotel?? We will be travelling sept 11th - the 18th.

Have you thought about a moderate? The price change wouldn't be such a shock that way. :confused3

A moderate would be a good choice...Port Orleans Riverside is beautiful.

How is the transportation from the Moderate hotels?

Katie - Where are you from on Long Island? I am in Uniondale

You might also want to consider Wilderness Lodge. Its not as shocking on the wallet, and it has good transportation. There is a boat from the dock to MK. We stayed there for our honeymoon and LOVED it.

If you are worried about transportation, you should be fine. From the dates you are going it will be a pretty slow time of the year. The moderates have a bus system, and unlike the value resorts do not share.

Wilderness Lodge is probably the least expensive of the deluxe resorts, but you'll still pay more then at a moderate.

You're going during value season, so Disney is highly likely to release a discount code for your stay. I would suggest booking through a travel agency that is familiar with Disney discounts and codes, and can apply one for you if one comes out.

Thank you everyone so far for the advice! I am going to look into the Moderate resorts!

I agree with the Wilderness Lodge. It is one of the "inexpensive" deluxe hotels. Also, the lodge feel can be very romantic for a honeymoon. But Caribbean Beach (moderate) could work in that department as well....

Hope this helps. Congratulations!!

Not all the values share buses. Pop has their own buses. However, during busy times All Stars have their own buses, but slower times they do share. I also think that some of the moderates do share buses.

My two favorites! WL and CB! Obviously I'm partial to WL since we were married at Sunrise Terrace and spent the first 3 nights of our honeymoon there, and CB was where my now-DH and I spent our first Disney weekend together

The moderates are a great choice if you're not interested in a value. I'm staying at Pop for a Girl's Weekend but I wouldn't want to stay there for my honeymoon, not only is there no on-site restaurant but DH and I spent a lot of time on our balcony at WL and there are no balconies at values and I don't remember there being any at moderates either, but the rooms at moderates are larger and they do have sit-down restaurants. Pop just doesn't give off a "romantic" feel like CB, POR, WL, AKL, Poly, and GF do, IMHO.

Best Wishes :goodvibes
