Help with renewing AP

I let my AP lapse last December because I genuinely thought I was going to be taking a break from the parks for a while and let Star Wars run its course before I came back. Well, life got funny and now it looks like there are multiple trips in my future and I need to look at renewing my pass. (Yes, of all the problems to have, I know...)

The issue I have is that my upcoming trip in June includes a blackout date and it's the last day of that visit. So, if I buy a regular ticket, I would be able to use the cost of that towards my new AP and would just need to get to the ticket booth before the end of that last day? And I would need to go basically when I was done with the parks for that day?

Also, if I renew at the ticket booth, would I still be able to do the monthly payments (I'm a CA resident) or would I need to pay the entire remaining balance then?

I know it's a lot of questions and I think I know the answers but just wanted to get confirmation because I'm weird like that. Thank you in advance! :)

You are correct that you can upgrade a park ticket to an AP on or before your last day. In your case, definitely do it on the last day since that’s a blockout day. I believe you could upgrade any time that day and the CM will give you a special pass for that day (someone correct me if I’m wrong).

You can sign up for monthly payments on the remaining balance after the cost of your regular ticket has been applied.

Also, you won’t be renewing since you let your old pass expire. You will be technically getting a new AP, however they can use your old physical AP (and in fact seem to want you to reuse it), so bring it with you if you still have it.

Yes, purchase a ticket package that will cover all the days you are there and then upgrade on the last day. You SHOULD be able to still get into the parks on the blockout day if you upgrade before you are actually done in the parks, unless you are upgrading to a flex pass. As of right now, if you upgrade to a flex pass, you will have to make a reservation to re-enter the park if it’s a reservation day. If you purchase or link your park ticket through the app, you will be able to upgrade your pass directly through there. You can also choose the monthly payments option through the app and it will apply the amount you paid for your tickets to the annual pass upgrade.

Another question, if you purchase a Signature pass (no +) but also purchase Max Pass...if you later decide to upgrade to Signature +, is it $150 more (accounting for the Max Pass cost) or $250 more?

They would count what you paid for MP towards the upgrade. So, $150.00 more at current AP prices.
