Hi everyone,

Thinking of booking Pop Century for our Sept trip. What do you all think about it.

Thanks

We'll be there the first week of August. I've heard lots of great things about it. We've always stayed at ASMo before. I think the place looks great and will be lots of fun! My dd (4) is soooo excited about the "hippy dippy" pool! I'll post a trip report when we get back!

Hi!
My mom, sister and I recently returned from the Pop Century and loved it. We were in the 60's building, which is a preferred building and it was very close to the Hippy Dippy pool and the main building. The bus service was among the best I've experienced in my 12 trips to WDW and the cast members were very nice. If you have young children, they will love the pool area!
I say " Go for it."

We just got back last night and it's nice for the price you can't go wrong. the food is good the people where great. We normally stay at CBR but we thought we would give it a try and it was vary nice. I hope this helps you. By the way we stayed 8 nights.::MickeyMo

I will be there in September as well...I was told that paying the extra for the preferred room is really not worth it at Pop. Any thoughts? Any suggestions as to which section is the best as far as theming and distance from the main areas? What are the icons and giant objects in each section? Are there non-smoking rooms? Are they only in certain areas? We have already requested a king room, anyone know how available these are? Sorry for all the questions- I'M EXCITED! :) Also a little nervous because we've never stayed at a Value before, but I've heard great things! I have a link to the map/layout if anyone needs it!

If you've requested a King bed, keep in mind that king beds are limited in availability, so you might not get the decade you want.

I wouldn't pay extra. We stayed in the seventies section in a king facing the lake and it was closer than some of the sixties sections. 50's section has bowling pin shaped quiet pool with lady and the tramp as big icons and I think a jukebox too. The stairwells were bowling pins.
(doing this from memory)
60's section had a big can of playdough and I don't remember what else. Stairwell was yoyos and the hippydippy pool is here.
70's section had a big wheel, mickey phone, foozball, stairwells were 8 track tapes and there were outdoor twister games. There was a water jet area.
80's and 90's were u shaped with 90's at the bottom of the u
Mr and Mrs Potato head were there, Roger Rabbit, a big walkman, and the staircases for 80's were a rubix cube.
90's had a computer with floppy discs and the staircase is cell phones. They are probably the farthest away from the food court but nothing is that far away.
We usually stay at moderates but we enjoyed Pop and the service and cast members were great. We would stay again. You can also walk around the lake and read things that happened every year.

This will be our first time to ever stay on property, and we are staying at Pop Century. (Next week!! :hyper: )

Does anyone know if they have laundry service or anywhere to do laundry ourselves?

Thanks!

There are washers and dryers at every pool area. Also, there are change machines and vending machines with detergent 'n stuff.

OR, you could send it out. It's rather expensive, and around $5 on average per item.

We stayed at Pop over easter and loved it we stayed in the 50's building A 3rd floor parking lot side this is what we requested as we wanted it quite as others have said I think we were closer then some prefered buildings in the 60's. We will be back.

We just come back from Pop.

We usually stay at the AS sports, or a disney deluxe. We have also tried all the mod resorts.

We liked Pop a little better than all starts..just a touch. The bed seemed for comfy, we had a lake view in the preferred building. It was very nice. The landscaping and big statues are great...a really nice job on these.

We like the inside and outside bars...very nice. Food court has a great variety of food, and delivers more than just pizza to the room. The veggie lasagna is especially good.

Castmembers all very nice.

The only thing that was hard..was the parking..we came back from downtown disney at approx 11:30pm..and there wasn't a spot to be found. They have opened up a new parking area..on the opposite end from where we were staying..so they are working on this problem..but, I don't see it getting any better until they add a ramp or something. The parking situation is quite a mess.

We will stay there again..we will just use disney transportation once we park, or take a cab when going to other resorts for dinner, instead of driving.

We were there Opening Day and will be back there at this time tomorrow. We loved PC! We were in the 50's section and liked it a lot.
Tyler - are you working over the next few days? Hope we can say hello.

Loved it in January. Going back in 2 weeks! I have stayed at the All-Stars, POR and Swan. But there was something that I really, really liked about Pop Century.

I really really like my prefered room. The 60s bldg is sooo cool! I don't mind facing the "hippy dippy" (sp?) pool. It does get a bit noisy at nite...but when you are sooo tired...nothing matters, I just slept through the noise. But it was just a moderate noise...it wasn't like noisey noisey where everyone is shouting. It's just a little noisy due to that we are right smack dab in the middle where the pool was.

I love the simple fact that you can see the fireworks (the high ones)from Epcot from the 60s bldg. I don't know about the other bldgs. You can see Spaceship Earth, I thought that was really cool.

Unfortunately, I can't get the prefered room on our next trip. I will keep calling and see.

Tyler- I very much enjoyed your resort. It was fun! And we are heading back there again real soon! I asked the CM at the front desk about you and unfortunately you weren't there at that time. Hopefully we'll bump to each other. If we do...you will be the first DIS member to meet!

Telly
