I need some help. We have a 2 bedroom booked from Dec 1 - 10. 351 points. Used 11 banked points from Sept 2005 use year, 200 points from Sept 2006 and borrowed 140 points from Sept 2007. We are going with friends who now tell us they are going to arrive on Dec 2nd and leave Dec 8th. If I drop Friday night the 1st and Saturday night the 9th thats 108 points. What happens to those points. :confused3 How can I use them or when do I have to use them if I even can. I don't have to drop the days cause DH, myself, 2DS's and neice can just stay longer but we were thinking about the dining plan and that will mess things up a little. They would have to pay for days they werent there. That would be 3 nights, but if I shortened our trip it would only be 1 night extra they would have to pay for which is ok because we are using 2 credits for 1 meal anyway. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!!

The points from your current Use Year can just be banked for use next year. the only points of concern would be the banked points and the borrowed points- since those will expire at the end of your current Use Year.

When you cancel the reservation, just ask MS to make sure that the banked and borrowed points are used for the remaining days of your reservation and that only current points are returned to your account (if possible). You can then bank those current points since you should still be within your 100% banking period.

You are correct that you would need to purchase the DP for the days your guests could not be with you. You could also consider a couple of reservations - get a 1BR for the days they will not be with you and the 2BR for the days they are there- if a 1BR will meet your needs. The dining plan can then be purchased separately for each portion of the reservation.

Good luck!

Thank you. A 1 bedroom wouldnt work because there will be 5 of us. Unless they say its ok. I've read that some were able to get 5 in a 1 bedroom. If I got a 1 bedroom for the 3 nights they werent there I would have 39 points left over. If I cancel 2 nights I get 108 points which would be enough for 6 nights in a studio during magic season. Decisions, Decisions. So will they let me put the current use year points back into that year?? It would have been much easier if they were going the original days we planned.

Another question. Will they let you just cancel 2 days or do you have to cancel the whole trip and rebook?

Since the days you want to drop are at the beginning and the end of your trip, you should be OK. I have shortened our reservations in manner similar to what you plan to do and had no problems.

But be sure to ask before the CM does anything - the days you are talking about are booked solid and there are waitlists. You don't want to end up losing your entire reservation!

Best wishes -

P.S. I doubt changing to a 1 bedroom (even if they say it is OK) will be an option because I've read several posts that say the BCV is booked solid for that time and people are having to waitlist.

CarolMN thank you. Thats why I asked because I know its a busy time for DVC and I didn't want to lose my reservation if I had to cancel the whole thing.

A one bedroom really is pretty crowded with five. You won't get another bed or additional bedding and linens. We had a SSR one bedroom with four of us (our three and my SIL) and we felt crowded. We tried to get a two bedroom, but none were available.

I think if I do anything I am going to drop the first and last night. If they will put those points back into the Sept 2006 use year I can get in another trip or bank them.

It depends on the ages of your kids. With my daughter being 3 & 4 at the time, it wasn't a problem at all. 1 bdrm at the BCV. As she gets older, we'd have to reconsider.

I've waitlisted for a different size room and asked MS to drop the room once the other came available. Just do an automatic booking, so they don't have to notify you to make the change. Usually, a different cm is assigned to do the "special" case bookings and will call you anyway. I did this over Christmas thru New Year. Waited forever for the room to come available for the 29th for some reason. They usually will suggest the best way to do it. I've never had a problem. Waitlisting is a fact of life for my DVC experiences.
