I am planning a trip with my mom and 2 sons ages 5 and almost 2 at the time of the trip. We'll be there for 4 days, and I'm trying to decide on a resort. I have a few questions. First, what moderate would you recommend? We have all stayed at POFQ and Riv and probably would like to try another resort. Also, what experience have you DISers had with AP rates for October? Has anyone gotten a good AP rate at a deluxe at this time? If we can get a good AP rate, I'll make the sacrifice and stay at a deluxe resort:tongue: !

The only other two moderate resorts are CBR and CSR. They are very similar to POR in that there is a central buiding with a restaurant, food court, gift shop, etc. Surrounding the building are buidings with the rooms. They both have a pool and beautifully landscaped grounds.

CSR is newer and themed like the southwest. It is something of a convention resort but many, many families stay there. Some people complain that the farthest buildings are quite a hike.

CBR is themed like the Carribean. While it's older than CSR the food areas have recently been renovated. The rooms are slightly larger than CSR (and POR and POFQ). Some people also complain that the farthest buildings are quite a hike.

As for a deluxe, you may not need an AP to get a good rate. I believe October is low season. Disney often releases discount codes available to the general public for this time period. While AP rates may be a little cheaper, it probably doesn't justify spending the extra money on an AP for only a 4 day trip. If you'll be going back to Disney within the year you may want to consider an AP. WL and AKL usually have the lowest prices for deluxe resorts.

Good luck and have fun.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the moderates. We love CBR , the resort is beautiful.

Nice site Mario....thanks for the info on CSR. We have never stayed here but have toured the suites so my DW could get some pics. The rooms look fine and would be great for a stay. We have eaten at the Pepper Market and the Maya Grille and enjoy them both. We have also pool hopped and the pool is nice and very beautiful overall. Being DVC members, we generally like to stay a weekend night at a resort we have never stayed at, prior to checking into our DVC room (being weekend rates are more expensive for DVC points). I think we'll get over to CSR pretty soon.

It's a toss up between the CBR and the CSR for me. Stayed at both the last two years. I think it depends on which theming you like.

Advantages for the CBR were the white sand beaches, the view of the fireworks from Parrot Cay island, the six quiet pools, the beautiful caribbean colors and theming and the double sinks in the rooms.

Advantages for the CSR were the Dig Site's huge pool and awesome pyramid and the theming.
