Help with meal plan pricing / inclusion

Help! About to book from the USA, experienced veteran of Disney in the US, including cruises, California and Florida, and experienced with general travel in Paris and throughout western Europe, but never been to DLP. Can someone tell me -- am I missing something, or is the meal plan just very expensive? We are a family of 4 -- will be booking at Disneyland Hotel for 3 nights / 4 days (check in on Monday, check out on Thursday). I can add the premium half board option for £462. Now, from what I can understand, that would give us a total of 12 vouchers (1 each person for each night, so 4 people x 3 nights). That works out to £38.50 per voucher. According to my conversion (Google's conversion, actually), that equals over $60 USD per voucher. Is this right? Or am I missing something? I fully appreciate the expense of Disney, and I am aware of the often higher prices in Europe, but over $240 USD per family meal with the vouchers still seems too high. Thoughts??? DLP meal price plans are expensive and restrictive, so I wouldn't bother.
However, the premium price plan, that you're offered with a DLH booking online, is for the premium restaurants, where typically an adult meal is in the region of 50 euros plus, and a child's in the region of 25 euros.

Save your money, take it with you, and eat where you like.

We had the premium dining, well worth is, as one day we did the fast food and was shocked to be charged £65 pounds for four fries two cokes two oranges and eight nuggets, and had to queue for 1 hour to get them, but this was in June.

there are lots of options between counter service food inside the park, and the premium dining plan at DLP .

Counter service is expensive and not particularly good value however there are lots of excellent table service and buffet restaurants to choose from.

The dining plans at DLP are very restrictive - if you don't wish to order from the limited meal plan menu you can use your vouchers at face value but IMO there's little point in this apart from the fact you've budgeted in advance.

Save your money, take it with you, and eat where you like.

We usually choose to do half board because we are just awful at budgeting, and it's one less thing to worry about whilst we're there. Have to disagree that it's more expensive but agree that it limits your options! But then we always plan our meals before we even leave, so it doesn't really affect us

Don't bother with the meal plan its too restrictive and hard to get value from, take cash,,,, and lots of it lol, as long as you are aware of the meal prices you can plan accordingly. DLP aint cheap but I find the table service much better than the counter service where a burger meal will easily set you back EURO 12.
