Help with Honeymoon Memory

20 years ago, in May 1989, my DW and I spent our honeymoon at WDW. We stayed at what was then known as "Radisson Inn Maingate", and the address listed was 7501 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Pkwy in Kissimmee.

I see some listings for Radisson Inns, and others for Maingate Inns, but they don't seem like they are an exact match.

Does anyone know the fate of this hotel? Change names? Torn down and rebuilt?

We'll be at WDW in June this year, and we think it would be fun to drive by that hotel and show our kids where we started our married life together.

Please help if you have any information.

Don't know the answer but the title made me laugh !:lmao: 3 kids and 20 years later I'd like help with honeymoon memory too :rotfl:

I can't help, but how nice you are trying to find out. I hope you find out and are able to tell the kids where it all began...

Might now be called the Radisson Worldgate - that is the nearest hotel to that address, although that is not it's address. The actual motel building in which you stayed could now be gone too, several in that area have been replaced.

You know that does look like it! We recall it being multi-story, brown, and much nicer than we should have been able to afford back then. (I think I just barely paid off our honeymoon a few years ago. LOL!) I found a site that says that the Worldgate was built in 1984 so that definitely fits.

The pic I saw of the lobby definitely rings a bell, because I can vividly remember our excitement of checking in and receiving the envelope with all our Disney tickets.

I wonder why they would change the address though? Maybe to convey a closeness to WDW by being on "Main-gate" road?

We will definitely drive by there and check it out. Thanks all for your help and kind words.

The hotel at 3011 Maingate Lane is definitely the one you're looking for.

If you do a Google Map search for 7501 West Irlo Bronson you end up smack dab right in front of the Radisson sign at the start of Maingate Lane in Kissimmee.

I think that you're right to think that the hotel owner was thinking about making a strong connection with Disney by calling the hotel Worldgate and changing the address to the side road (Maingate) rather than the main road in front of the hotel. Seems like just good marketing - afterall West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway doesn't give the Disney message.

Happy anniversary.
