A few weeks ago our broiler just didn't work out of the blue, but the oven worked fine. About a week later the oven stopped heating up quickly and this has continued. It takes 20-30 minutes for the oven to heat up now when it used to be right away (there is no gas smell or anything so for the moment we are not worried about that). Am I looking at an igniter problem or what? I have googled a little but does this sound like an easy repair or should we look into a replacement? The oven is 10 years old.

We had this problem right before Christmas. Our oven started taking forever to heat up and it wouldn't heat up to full temp. If I set it for 350 it would only heat up to 180 for example. Turns out is was the ignitor, apparently they can and do go bad after a few years (ours was 5), anyhow, it is super easy to replace just look at the owners manual so you know exactly where it is (there are probably 2 we only had to replace 1) and remove the ignitor so you can get the serial number off of it. Then basically just call any appliance parts supply and order one, they generall have them on hand and it will likely run around $65 or if you know someone who had a business license you can get them at cost around $14. Super easy to remove and replace, our oven has been working like a charm ever since. Good Luck!!
