I keep getting conflicting info on this. We will be traveling with 2 adults, 2 kids over 40" and 15 month old twins. Does everyone need to have a FP to use rider swap? For example can DH and DS FP splash and ride it, while DD and myself wait and then use rider swap. Then could I do the same thing with Thunder so DD and myself FP it while the other two wait, then they ride it using rider swap. Is this how it works?

Also could I do this same scenario at EPcot with TT and soaring? Someone said it was bending the rules cause they are both tier one?

I'm very confused...Thanks!

That's exactly how it worked last August for us, we didn't realize it unt late in the trip that we didn't both need a FP. So say I have a FP for Everest, I rode it then got a rider swap and DH and his dad could ride it whe I watched the kids. So basically 3 people Used the FP but we actually only had 1 FP to Everest. Don't know if it will be like that this year stil, but we are planning it that way.

Or one of us will get FP with the kids on kiddie rides while the other parent goes on the big ride, but wait with the big ride first to get parent swap. Then split and head over to our kiddie FP. When 2nd parent rides big ride the other parent takes kids for snack or boneyard area something like that

You are not bending the rules. You are following them.

However many people want to ride first all need fp+'s (if they want to enter using a FP. You can get a rider switch using standby). Then up to 3 people ride using the rider switch pass- none of those need a fp+.

This effectively means that in your case, at Epcot, you could ride both Soarin' and Test Track using FP+. It's not bending the rules at all, it's absolutely how the system works.

I find it easier to understand if I just look at the rider switch pass as an anytime FP+ for up to 3 people.

Ok, so,DH and DS could FP test track, ride it and DD and I could use rider swap after they ride then DD and I could FP soaring, ride it and DH and DS could ride via rider swap. I think those two May be the only two rides I might take advantage of this. I like the way you said it's an anytime FP.

Yes, you'd be able to do that exactly as you said. Remember that you don't have to use it right away. Our passes are usually good until the end of the month. The expiration date will be printed on your pass. And if the one who rode first likes it enough, they can get a 2nd ride as well. Since you're doing both rides, one could ride twice on Soarin', the other on TT.

Yup - exactly right. We just got back last week and used it that way.
Another way to think about it is that using the rider swap is totally independent of how the first group of people rides it. So they could ride standby and you can get a riderswap or they can ride FP and get a rider swap. Either way, the riderswap lets 3 people ride again with "an anytime FP"
And as a PP said, keep in mind that it doesn't need to be used right away. When we were there all our riderswaps expired at the end of the month.

Remember you ALL have to show up at the FP entrance and announce you want a rider swap ticket. If I remember right you have the rest of the day to use it too.

Sorry Im still a bit confused.
If there are 6 of us in our group but 2 kids are too small to ride do I need to get 3f's so hubby and 2 eldest ride whilst I wait with kids then we get a rider swap so I can go on but can I take my eldest kids again using my rider swap ticket??
So if this is case, correct me if I've got this wrong. If I want to ride test track and soarin we only get one set of fp's.
Thanks I'm so confused.

More likely, the end of the month- that's what ours have always been. But at the very least, several days.

If you want both kids to ride with both parents, then you will need fp's for your husband and 2 kids to ride. Then you and the kids can ride on the switch pass.

This will only leave you the ability to get 1 fp+ for whichever ride is 2nd- Soarin' or TT. In that case, you'd have to ride solo with your fp+, the hubby and kids could ride together- or however you want to switch it around.

If you want fp+ for both Soarin' and TT, then you'd have to just get 2 fp+'s for one. Hubby and one kid ride, you and both kids could ride again on the switch pass. That would leave you 2 fp+'s for the other ride and you'd do it the same way.

Ok, one more question...if there is a ride like star tours and I decided to use all four FP on that one because there is nothing else I want to FP, then can we all ride if twice within the FP hour timeframe? Now that I'm thinking about this I realize it probably won't work. Thanks so much for clarifying all this. It's been so helpful!
