Help with Flights....

We are looking at flying from Charlotte NC to Orlando on Southwest Airlines in May 2014. My question is, are the flights that are listed now the only flights that will be available or will more options become available the closer time gets. Also, does anyone know when the best time to book a flight is? We flew this year for the first time and got a pretty good deal. We booked about 2 months before our trip. Just not sure if we need to book now or wait and see if more times become available and if there will be better prices/specials.

Pretty sure on SW that the scheduled flights and times do not change.

As far as when to buy, that's the million dollar question. If you are traveling during spring break time, then it's probably best to buy right away because the lower fares will probably sell out. If it is a slower travel time, then you can probably wait. Keep looking at airfares for your routes and decide what you feel comfortable spending. When you see a rate you can live with, buy it and don't look back. I got this last piece of advice from the good folks here on the DIS .

Southwest doesn't add flights once their schedules are published.

Usually the best fares for Southwest are when they are first released, unless there is a sale.

It's okay to buy when you see a good fare on Southwest and keep checking, because if the price is lowered, you can rebook and get a credit (unlike most other airlines with an average $200 change ticket fee). However, just make sure you will be able to use the credit on another trip.

On Southwest buy when you feel comfortable paying the rate. When the low fares run out they may not add any more but if the fares drop you can rebook at the lower fare.
