We arrive in CA on May 11th and we leave for home on the 17th. We are doing one day at Legoland (I think Sat.) and 3 days at Disney. We are staying at the Paradise Pier.

My question is this, I started a diet the week of Thanksgiving and I'm wondering what I'm going to eat while I'm gone. I've lost over 35 lb and I don't want to blow it while on vacation!! Anyone know how much walking you do in the average day? The more I move the more I can eat, heehee. What about the exercise room at the hotel? Any info on what equipment they have (so I can figure out a workout schedule with my trainer).

We are planning on going to the park Sunday, Monday and Wed. I'm sure Sunday will be more crowded than usual due to Mother's Day but I think that is the only time we can catch the Electrical Parade (is that the right name?) and the fireworks.

We went 2 years ago and the kids LOVED Goofy's Kitchen. I've booked it again, but I'm wondering if we should branch out and try something new. My daughter was almost 3 last time and she still talks about playing pots and pans with Goofy.

Less than 3 weeks and I might explode before then. We haven't told the kids and don't plan on telling they get home from school that day. They have testing all week and I don't want them to be too excited to concentrate. That and I don't know if I can handle them asking 399 million times how many days. They know we are going, they just think we are going when school is out :) I know we are mean parents but hopefully they will forgive us.

Thank you for all your help!

Last time we went, my mom was on a diet (when she was in the mood) so I tried to help her with choices since I am the appointed family tour guide. Goofy's is very cool, but not very health oriented since it is buffet style. The Chip and Dale breakfast at Storyteller Cafe GCH and the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at PPH has an ala carte menu so you can order what is healthy. They both have lively action for kids, more so at the Lilo breakfast. The fresh fruit is great in the park - and compared to prices up north, very reasonable. If you buy a personal pizza at the restaurant in Fantasyland, it comes with a nice garden salad, maybe bring a healthy salad dressing. I know there is a chef salad on a menu somewhere also. The Bengel BBQ in Adventureland has pretty lean meat on a stick that is quite tasty. You can preview all the menus at http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/menus.htm - I find this very helpful for meal planing. I have never walked more that when I was in Disneyland. Walking the parks is the greatest fitness plan ever!!

My one last tip is to get a half gallon jug with the pop top and make sugar free koolaid or crystal lite each morning. Our family of 6 went through 2 a day. We stuff it as full of ice as possible to keep it cold throughout the day and pack it in a large lunchbox cooler.

We're going right after testing also. We told the kids and you are so right about the nonstop questions - but it's just getting me all the more jazzed to get to the happiest place on earth!

Have fun!:yay:

There are healthy options around the parks and hotels. You'll find a lot of carts selling fresh fruits- icy cold and perfect for a quick snack. Soft pretzels can be a good option. There are salads and sandwiches available all over. Look on the park map for a little red apple next to restaurant listings, it signals they have healthy choices.

First of all, congratulations on the weight loss and through the holiday season too, I am impressed. :thumbsup2 Like the other posts have told you.. you should be able to find something healthy no matter where you choose to eat. Most places have salads and the fruit is amazing.
