We are planning our 2nd DL trip and need help with our last night. We have a 7:50am flight from LAX back to Ohio and are trying to decide if we should continue our stay onsite and get a car service for the early morning flight or if we should just check out of DLH on Sunday and have them hold our bags while we do the park and go to a hotel close to the airport. Any thoughts? Oh, and I'll definitely be back for more help since our last trip started on the day of the Pirates 2 premiere so there were many things that were not running last time. Thanks!

if it was me I would check into a hotel near LAX for the night . . . . L.A. Traffic is notorious anytime of the day.

Since you have a 7:50am flight, you should probably be at the airport by 6am. If you leave the Disneyland area no later than 5am you should be fine. There is traffic, but it's doable that early in the morning. If you want to get that extra hour of sleep in the morning, then you should do as Toocherie says.

In the past, with any SoCal vacation, I've switched to an airport hotel for the last night. We tend to prefer the Westin. :thumbsup2

We had same problem when we stayed in November. We were flying out of LAS to Orlando for a stay at WDW after a short stay at DL. Out flight was 8am on the day before thanksgiving. Not being American did not realise it was a potential problem.

We got a taxi at 5am to the airport got there in plenty of time and checked in curbside in less than 5 minutes. The line for the security area was out the door and down the road 100 metres. But we got through in just over 30 minutes and in fact sat around the terminal for over an hour.

I would not worry about 6AM LA traffic.

hmmm, interesting

the shuttle services i priced out suggested an 11:30 - noon departure on their website from the DLH to LAX on July 3rd (thursday) for a 2:40 flight...

should i request that they pick us up sooner?popcorn::

I think you are okay. Even if they pick you up at noon, you should still be there by 1p (even with traffic) which gives you 1 hour, 40 minutes until your flight.

fyi, when i booked it on Prime Time's site, i noticed they have a 15 min window proviso after designated pickup time.

i called & was told they usually are later, rather than sooner :)

even though operator said their drivers know to skirt around traffic issues, since im on the last plane out for my connection decided to be a chicken & book a 10:45 am pickup jik

When we used Super Shuttle, we had a 9:30 a.m. flight out of LA (which I thought was not too early), so we had to be there for 7:30 (International flight), so our p/u was scheduled for 5:30 a.m. - yikes!

Knowing this, I would definitely stay at an airport hotel for the last night if I had an early flight out again..... They schedule 2 hours for transportation because of picking up other people at different hotels, traffic, etc. So even though it might only take an hour to drive to LAX directly, if you have shared transportation, you will not be going directly to LAX - something to keep in mind.

Well, we found a deal using points (only 10,000!) at the Courtyard by Marriott at LAX. I figure we will stay at DL till after the fireworks and then head to the courtyard.

Anyone have suggestions on how we should book transportation. Rental car is not an option since dh doesn't want to drive. 2 years ago we took a limo----I believe tony the limo king. We ended up getting on an earlier flight w/Delta but dh's luggage came on a later flight and I remember waiting for at least an hour for the limo so by the time it was said and done we were tired and cranky and didn't really save much time.

This time I know we won't get on an earlier flight since we're doing the trip backwards from last time--starting at my dad's in Reno and then direct early am flt to LAX then back to east coast and using Southwest.

Oh, and we are a party of 2 adults and 3 children.

Thanks!
