Help with DVC stay and transportation AKL, CCV, BLT?

We are staying in September and I'm deciding whether to do a split stay with BLT (home) and AKL or CCV and AKL. Or just stay at Boulder or AKL-Kidani (only ones with total availability for time there).

Background, we have 4 young kids so trying to minimize time traveling plus we will have strollers. We also might need naps.

I had heard with WL that buses are slow to get places? Would it be worth it to do the BLT for MK/Epcot then AKL for HS/AK/Waterparks?

Also if we do MNSSHP and stay at WL, I'm concerned with crowds with boats/busses? We won't stay all night but last time we went (and stayed at BLT) lots were leaving at the same time and everything was packed, thankfully we could walk. We can't do HP if we stay at BLT sadly. So we will have to bus/boat.

It's not supposed to be crowded when we go but I'm really up in the air about where to stay. We've only stayed at BLT for the most part in DVC.

I appreciate any insight.

Given your situation I would do either BLT or CCV, not AKL. With BLT you have Monorail access to 2 parks and bus rides to 2. CCV has some lovely new features, and we have not had issues with boats or buses that made us too crazy. Perhaps planning to leave the party after everyone by riding one more ride or something to let the hoards clear?

Getting to the water parks now is at least 2 bus rides each way depending on which one you are going to. If you are dealing with strollers, I might consider just staying at the resort pools. Without a car sclepping wet (potentially sleeping) children on and off buses would not be my idea of a good time.

Thank you! That's a really good point. Appreciate the response. I didn't know about the 2 bus to waterpark thing. When we stayed at AKL, the first stop was Typhoon Lagoon. So you mean 2 bus from MK resorts to the waterparks? You can't get to them from TTC?

I believe that now you have to first take a bus to AK to catch the bus to the waterparks. We didn't go but I believe that was what I noticed a couple of weeks ago. AFAIK there are no buses anywhere from TTC anymore.

Typhoon Lagoon goes from Disney Springs, Blizzard Beach from AKL, and depending on when you are going, one or the other may be down for rehab.

While it's not a water park, Kidani has a great water play area that would keep young children busy for hours. Plus there is a kiddie slide into the pool.
