My daughter wants to take her boyfriend to Disney. He has never been there (yeah, I know...ugh). They are 19 and have limited funds. The free dining is only in September right? Is it the same for 2014? Trying to help her out the cheapest way possible :cool1:

Free dining is only offered with a full-price package, so with only 2 in the room it might be cheaper to look for a room discount, such as AAA or a public code. You can watch for codes at mousesavers.com. They can save by eating only counter-service meals and if he's not a big eater, sharing meals.

When does she want to go? Room rates also vary on the time of the year. You can steer her towards a value-rated week, which is a good start. Check out sites like mousesavers.com or easywdw.com to help you choose a time.

The current (general public) free dining offer is only for September. Whether that holds true for the rest of the year is yet to be seen. Chances are, for 2014, the same will hold true.

As far as whether or not it's the best deal, that's a different story. Being on limited funds, I'd think that the value resorts would be the best option. If Free Dining is offered, it will likely only be the Quick Service plan. The downside of this is that a room discount offer will likely be pretty low as well, so it will be best to do the math to figure out the difference between the two. There are several ways (sharing meals, etc) to stretch a buck with Disney dining, so that will help with the funds (check out a few threads around here that discuss dining for under $50 a day...and those usually include 1 TS as well!)
