Help with Dining plan question.

I think that I do know the answer to my own question, but I will throw it out there anyways. We are currently planned to go to WDW in April/May 2009, and we are planning to do DxDP. It is DH, DS (8) DD (7) and myself. Now DD coach (she is a level 4 gymnast) thinks that we may be doing a meet in WDW in January, so we will move our vacation up to that time. Due to the fact that we will really not know when she is to compete until the month or so before I am now thinking that we should just do with the regular dining plan because I am not sure what time we will have to tour or make concrete plans for the weekend and I am afraid that credits would be wasted. If we want to add appetizers, or extra meals paying out of pocket should not be more than the extra cost for the DxDP. Let me know if I am thinking this right.
