Help with dates for August 2012

My soon-to-be husband and I are coming to California in August for our honeymoon. We already have our 3 day hopper tickets and we're really looking forward to seeing Cars Land!
We have 2 choices for dates to visit DL, they are - 08/18/12 - 08/20/12 or 08/21/12 - 08/23/12, which dates would be best? We were originally thinking that the later dates would be best but, now I've seen that the AP blackout is lifted on the 20th, I am unsure which dates to choose. Can anyone give any advice?

I would avoid the 20th for sure. There are lots and lots of locals who will have been blocked out the whole summer who really want to see BVS and Carsland. It will be noticeably more crowded on the 20th, so if I could, I would avoid that day and the days after it! Have fun and congrats!

Will it really be noticeably busier on the 21st - 23rd August? I've always thought we should steer clear of weekends, especially in August!

I would definitely pick the earlier dates, and make sure you get most your DCA touring done the first two days as I assume that's where the hordes will descend on the 20th .

In my experience it is noticeably busier the days leading up to the blockout and the days after the blockout lifts. And there is more of an incentive this year than in years past due to Carsland and BVS. I would avoid the 20th myself and believe there are others here who would do the same. There are hundreds of thousands of APers who significantly shift park dynamics when they decide to show up for things! (Not saying anything bad about APers, they deserve to use the parks when they can. Just trying to help the OP with least crowded dates.)
