Anyone have info about what you tip for? This is all new to me, and I don't want to do the inappropriate thing. I would assume since you are paying for the concierge treatment, you don't tip, but you know what happens when you assume . . .

I will tip housekeeping as I always do, but I'm not sure about the concierge lounge. Thanks!

We have never tipped concierge..but, then again, they have never had to do anything for us either.

I think technically, they are not allowed to accept monetary tips. If a guest is insistent, then it's placed in an office fund and used for the group.

We actually have never really needed much assistance from the CM staff once we arrive. I usually have everything taken care of by the pre-planners before we even go on vacation. In planning my December trip, I thought I asked them to go a little bit above and beyond what they would normally do. The trip was a surprise and they did a great job with how they contacted me and the resort shopping for a few special gifts. I sent down a chocolate basket for the entire staff of the pre-planning department and made sure to write a note of praise to management.

Not sure you're resort experience, but at the deluxes, your luggage is brought up by a bellman. You already mentioned mousekeeping and you'll also have turn down service done on your room. That's replacing any towels or toiletries you used during the day, emptying the trash, turning down the covers on your bed, leaving the TV or radio playing softly and keeping a light on for you. Not as extensive as the full housekeeping, so we normally tipped $1 per bed or $2 minimum. I'm not saying that any of these positions expect a tip, just that they are accepted.

Thanks! That's kinda what I expected.

Tammi - we have stayed at quite a few deluxes so I feel comfortable with the whole bellman/housekeeping thing. It was just the conceirge lounge I was uncertain about - like if you go for the continental breakfast, do you leave money of the table that you eat your muffin at! LOL! Of this I was not certain.

I have no idea what the proper procedure is at the concierge lounge, but we always picked up after ourselves and put the dishes and glasses on the dirty tray. There just seemed to be many more tables than lounge staff, plus they were also responsible for replenishing the food area.

One of the nicest things that I did see was at the GF concierge lounge. There was an older gentleman who worked there and he was very friendly, outgoing and full of Disney knowledge. One morning, when the lounge was quiet, a young couple arrived. The young lady presented this gentleman with a rose and thanked him for his help during their stay. He was beaming.

There is actually a website called Tagrel.com that has something called CM appreciation cards. You can print however many you'd like and present them to CM's who maybe go a little above and beyond.

I have a friend who works at the Concierge at GF. I asked him directly if they could accept tips, and he said no. I am sure that if a guest insists they won't be rude, but as Tammi said, it must go into a fund of some sort.

Personally, if the Concierge does all of your difficult PS that you couldn't get, or really goes out of their way for a guest, they should be allowed to take the tips, but that is just me. I don't make the rules! :confused3
