I woke up this morning and my bottom lip is split in two places from being chapped! I didn't realize how dry our house was. To top it off I was blowing my nose a lot last week so I have a sore underneath my nose.

What is the best FAST remedy? It looks awful and this morning my lip was bleeding on the way to work. I have been putting petroleum jelly on all day because that is all I have but is there anything else I could use? (For the lips as well as the sore under the nose from blowing the nose)

BTW, thanks in advance, I know this is not the most desirable topic....

When mine get like that, I use Neosporin. Not the kind they make for chapped lips, the regular tube for cuts/scrapes.

Within a few hours, my lips are looking and feeling so much better!

Thank you! I was looking for some this morning but couldn't find any in our medicine cabinet, I will probably stop after work because they REALLY hurt and the petroleum jelly wears off really quickly.

I swear by Carmex, DH hates the smell of it but it works great! It is a little jar with a yellow lid

keep using the Vaseline, slather it on when you go to bed, not a great look but it will work! dont lick your lips either as that makes them more sore! hope you feel better soon :grouphug:

I use Neosporin for cracks in the corners of my fingertips, too. Neosporin, band-aid, and they're healed in just a day or two (provided you get them early on)!

I've used LypSyl for chapped lips. I works very well and has absolutely no taste.

Drink more water, use a humidifier in your house-if you don't have one boil water on the stove, and keep using the Vaseline.

Totally agree with the Vaseline. My mouth gets dry and cracked at the corners and Vaseline is the only thing that clears it up.

I also love Blistex lip Medic in the littel blue jar. I use that during the day when I don't want the greasy, Vaseline look.

The only thing that heals my lips when they get that chapped is Blistex (the original kind in the white/red tube). You can actually feel it working immediately.

They make a neosporin lip treatment that works pretty good. My new favorite thing this winter is Mary Kay Lip Mask and Lip Balm. Not something you can probably get tonight but it's awesome. I even got some for dd...she always had horrible lips and she hasn't had dry lips once since we got it.

Have you tried the new carmex in the silver tube? It's carmex moisture plus and comes in a little tube that you can "wind and unwind" so you don't have to stick your finger in. I love carmex but have long nails and have difficulty. I've been using this stuff and my lips are sooooo soft.

OP~ When you get yours lips fixed, you should try this stuff out to maintain your lips! It's heavenly!

I 2nd using Blistex ointment. It doesn't wear off as fast as Vaseline and it's medicated so it heals fast. I give some to my kids before bed when they have chapped lips and they always feel a lot better in the morning.

Another one for Blistex. I live in the high desert where its usually dry and very little humidity. I found this is the one thing that helps me best.

This won't help you right now but after they heal I recommend Avon Lip Conditioner. My lips used to get so horribly chapped every winter until I started using this every day. I t has SPF 15 in it also so I use it all year long. It's fantastic.

Another vote for Carmex. I use the cherry flavor in the squeeze tube. I stopped using the little container when they came out with those tubes. It works fast. :thumbsup2

I use A&D ointment. I can't use any of the other stuff, just does not work on me and it burns like hell.

Thank you everyone! They are a lot better today....no bleeding this morning thank goodness!

Me too. Carmex also heals up chapped skin. Whenever I get a cold my poor little nose get bright red and chapped too and I use Carmex on it and it heals right up. It burns for a few seconds but then you feel a lot better. :goodvibes
