Has anyone stayed in a Cat 7? Any pictures? Is it as cool as it sounds?

We haven't (yet), but I'm interested to hear any responses to the question.

We've stayed several times in category 7 rooms. I think for the price, they're the best deal of the verandah rooms. That said, some don't like the partially obstructed view, but I don't feel that it's all that bad. I think for the difference in price, it's a fair trade-off. We stayed in a category 5 room on our first cruise, and have only gone back to them when we could get a really good deal. For most of our subsequent cruises, we've been in category 7 on deck 7, and I personally feel these rooms are just as good as the category 5's which are right next door.

Also, there are 4 rooms which were originally category 5 or 6 (two of each) and were re-classified as category 7. They have an almost full verandah which is just slightly more obstructed than the regular (cat. 5 & 6) verandahs, but much more open than the regular Navigator's verandah. The rooms are 7120, 7620, 6134 and 6634. If we can get either of the deck 7 rooms, we do, but we go with the standard category 7 on deck 7 rather than the re-classified rooms on deck 6.

Dave's site has some good stateroom information here. Follow the links to "Barb's Site" for some pictures of these rooms.

Check your private messages, I sent you a place to look at pictures :)

We have stayed in one and loved it. We liked the location and they way the verandah was themed...

The cat 7's are our favorite. I like that they are not as open as the regular verandahs and I love the bench they have. A great place to read a book on a lazy sea day.

We just had two connecting cat 7s on the Dec 5 Wonder, the Wonder's navigator portholes are wider than the Magic's. We loved our rooms, and liked the theming of the verandah, including the bench and a ledge that was great for setting a beverage on as you read! My brother was in one of the recategorized cat 7 a floor above us, it was a great bargain, the only obstruction is on one side of the verandah there is a angled cut out.

We loved the navigator veranda and from the child standpoint it feels safer to me (probably in my head) :earboy2: We actually prefer them and the price is better than the regular veranda. princess: :wizard: pirate:

Personally, I would choose the oceanview over the navigators verandah. We've stayed in both (and a regular verandah). The oceanview is really nice, you can SIT and see the ocean from your couch. Just not possible with the navigators verandah. I felt to enclosed, so I'd rather have the nice big window, so I can relax & look at the sea.

I just got off of Wonder this morning from Room 5634, which is a Category 7. We loved it! I will be posting pictures within a few days. Right now, I'm having a quick return to WDW with DH before we return to reality. I will try to post the pictures sometime before I return home on Sunday.

I have room 7120 and 7122-- what category are these and what can I expect? Thanks for your help!

I just posted my pictures from the 12/12 Wonder. We were in Room 5634, and loved it. The pictures are unedited, unsorted and compressed, but you'll get the idea! Just keep scrolling down until you find what you're looking for!

I like the Cat 7s too. I didn't mind the enclosed balcony - it gave more privacy and I didn't spend much time outside anyway. Decent value for the money, IMO.

If you only need one cabin, I highly advise making sure you do not get a connecting stateroom. We had one on our last cruise and it was the biggest negative of the trip. We could hear everything that went on next door, making it very unpleasant to hang out in our room when the neighbors were in (and I'm the type that likes to stay in my cabin to relax).

I am considering booking cat 7 for a cruise in 2006. I have never sailed DCL but will have twice with RCL in balcony cabins. How big of an adjustment will this be? We did use our balcony to sit and read on, etc. Thanks :)

BethC,
Love your pictures !! We're on the EB repo in a cat 7, and I can't wait. Both my DS and myself have a problem with glare and I thought the cat 6 might not be a good choice for us...I also thought the extra shelter would shade us from what I'm certain is going to be merciless sun.
