Help with car rental

I am looking to rent a car for the first time. We will be staying at the boardwalk for a week in december followed by 5 days off site to visit universal. We will need to get the car on our last day at disney and return it at MCO a few days later. How can I do this? Which rental places will I be able to choose from that I can get to on Disney property or be able to be picked up from Disney property? I am looking for as cheap as possible and an economy car will be fine. I looked on orbitz and found the cheapest prices from "U save" and "EZ rentacar". Would either of these work?

There's an Alamo rental counter at the Dolphin hotel. You can check the rates at the Alamo site, they're usually pretty competitive. You could walk over to pick it up vs. having to take a cab to the others you mentioned.

A $125/day for an economy? or $125 more for the entire rental?
I'm not sure what your exact dates are, but I just searched for 5 days in the middle of Dec and got $170.49 incl taxes and fees for a 5 day rental without any discount codes.

We are looking at the 18th to the 22nd. I got $125 per day. Do you mind if I ask, are you doing it through the alamo website or something else? $170 would be excellent!

I had used 12/11 to 12/15 pickup and drop off at noon, and with a costco code I get $156.00 incl taxes for an economy.
WOW what a difference a week makes. I guess it's because your getting so close to Christmas.
The best I could find for your dates is an economy at $190.78 but the pick up and drop off is at the airport with EZ rental, using Car Rental Savers.

I saw that some cars can be rented at the downtown disney hilton. Do you know how easy it is to get there on Disney transportation? As you can tell, we don't do anytime out of the typical disney parks and hotels!

I just found this one with Dollar, Pickup at the Regal Sun Resort, which is on Hotel Plaza Blvd near DTD and drop off at the airport
Compact $153.46 incl all taxes
I just used pickup and dropoff as noon
Use the Dollar site

One of you could take the bus to DTD and walk to the Regal Sun and then drive back to BWV instead of lugging all your bags.
Or you could take a cab, probably wouldn't be more than $10-15

I just tried to use a similiar strategy for a couple of my upcoming trips but it didn't work, OH WELL. Glad it helped you.
I did notice that if you didn't keep the pickup and dropoff time the same the rate went way up, but I guess you worked that out.
