Help with car rental from disney to port

Has anyone done one day car rental pick up at disney world going to cruise? Any tips and help would be great!...one other question about return to disney world... Disney transportation or rent again what is easier?


We want to rent going so we can stop at store and get there early as the last time we went with disney transportation we did not get on the boat after 2.

How many in your party? The DCL transfers are $35/person from the port to WDW. If you've got 3 or more people its probably cheaper to rent a car.

We are 4.


I think the biggest thing for us is we want to stop at a store and get there earlier this time.

With four of you it should be possible to rent a car for less than what DCL will charge for the bus. It also gives you the ability to stop off at the supermarket along the way.

I would use Budget if possible. Their shuttles seem to be the most plentiful at the port. BUT...that means having to get to DTD to rent the car. I believe they are located at the DoubleTree. They may be able to come to your resort and get you though. Then, drop everyone off at the ship, and you return the car. Take the shuttle back to the ship. Reverse it when it's time to leave port.

I agree with the Budget car rental because that is what we did. We made a stop at the Public grocery store not far from the Budget rental location at the port to pick up a few things. Then when we turned the car in we took the free Budget shuttle van to the ship. When we arrived the shuttle driver told us where to meet him when the boat returned and he would take us back to pick up another rental car. The cost was $40 for each rental of a midsize including gas.

It was nice to be on our own schedule and the freedom to stop at the store was great.

Budget had 3 shuttle vans available to take folks to the ships
