Help with camera!!! Urgent!

I took pictures on my camera, but it turns out there was no memory card in my camera. Now, I have no way to get the pictures off. I do not know how to move the pictures to my memory card, and I do not have the software that came with my camera so that I can transfer them directly to my computer. I have a Nikon CoolpixS51.

Most cameras have a USB port so you can plug it directly into your computer. I know my computer recognizes my camera without having to install software so it's easy to cut and paste the pictures off my camera and onto my computer.

I would try to plug it in using a USB cord and see what happens.

Look in the box the camera came in. There is probably a cord in there that you had no idea what to do with when you opened the box. I know all my cameras have that cord. What you do is plug it into the camera somewhere and then plug the other end into the USB port on the front of your computer. And ta-da! Your pictures will download to your computer.
We had to do that just recently, can you tell!!

You don't need the software if your computer is Windows XP, Vista, or 7. The computer will recognize your camera and automatically arrange a download for you. But, you will need the cord to transfer from your camera to your computer. If you don't have one, Best Buy or Radio Shack will have the cord for you. Just take your camera in and show them what end you need on your camera. The other end will be a USB connector as the other posters have indicated.

Your camera came with a UC-E12 AV/USB cable. You will plug this into your camera and the other end into your computer's USB port.

As previous posters have stated, most camera's will work similar to a card reader. The software is usually just used to edit the pictures.
