We are new to the boards and are also new members at the BCV. We really like the Boardwalk and are wondering why it's so tough to get a Boardwalk/lake view at the Boardwalk. If we want to go in early October, I know we would have to start booking 7 months out. My question is what are our chances at that time of the year to get a requested Boardwalk view?

I also hear that I could be the very first person to book the view, but in the end, I can get bumped due to some sort of policy for "veteran" users. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks in advance.....

You will get more answers to your question if you post it on the DVC Forum. From your post, I assume you are a DVC Vacation Club member whose home resort is the BCV and that you want to book BWV using your DVC points.

It's been estimated that the rooms that overlook the Boardwalk make up somewhere between 15% and 20% of the rooms at the BWV resort. It is definitely the most frequently requested view.

Room requests are never guaranteed (except for those based on certain medical requirements). DVC members' room requests have priority over those of guests who book through CRO and pay Disney cash for the room. Rooms are assigned based on the date (and if necessary) the time the reservation is made with Member Services. Someone who makes a reservation at 11 months has a higher priority than someone who makes the reservation at 10 months, and the person who makes a reservation at 10 months has a higher priority than - well you get the pattern. That 's one of the reasons that many say the 11 month booking window for your home resort really matters.

Of course, requests due to bonafide medical needs have top priority and the room has to be available on the day you check in. Even if you are the only one on the list with a request for a Boardwalk view, if all of the rooms are occupied by guests who checked in a day or more before you arrive, you won't get your request.

So, what are your chances of snagging that coveted boardwalk view in early October? Impossible to say! Certainly DVC members who make reservations sooner than you can have a better chance. However, even cash/CRO guests occasionally get lucky. Maybe you will, too!

Good luck!
