HI everyone! I just figured out how to post on this site. :rotfl2:

Anyway, my family, me, my husband and our daughter age 7 are going to WDW in May and will be there on my birthday!! :cool1:

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of where we should go for my birthday dinner. I really wanted it to be a special occasion and it would have been nice for my husband to surprise me with this, but I know I can forget that. Not that he wouldn't want to, it's just he has no idea how to make a PS. I've done all of the disney research and he wouldn't know where to start, so I'm planning it myself.

My birthday is a Saturday (not sure if that matters at WDW where they are busy 7 days a week).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I thought about the restaurant at the Comtempary where you can see Wishes while eating, but didn't know if this would be too fancy. Is this a fancy restaurant. We are not the dress type of people (black tie type thing) especially on vacation.

Thanks for all of your help in advance!

Pam :wave2:

Going to Hoop De Do Review dinner show, good food and great show and the Pioneer Hall Players will help you celebrate.Heck you might even be asked to come on stage and be a part of show.Go to 7:15 show and then afterwards go on romantic hayride offered right across from Pioneer Hall. After that stroll down to beach and watch Electric Water Parade. ::yes:: :wave2:

I'm going to WDW in March with DH and 2 other couples. Al of us ladies have b-days in February, 2 of us are the week before we leave. We're celebrating all of our b-days at Chef Mickey's our first night there!!!

DH and I will be at WDW on our 1st anniversary and we're looking for ideas. We were thinking of Spirit of Aloha at Polynesian, or the Hoop Dee Doo Revue...or even Cinderella's Castle :)
BTW, we're going in May too, from the 1-7 :)

We're going to 'Ohana for my birthday this time. Last time, we went to Boma. Both of them are casual enough, and we enjoy the food. 'Ohana is more of a 'fun' atmosphere, with races and other entertainment. At Boma, the food is the star.

Kungaloosh!

Have a great trip! We went to the Spirit of Aloha last year and it was a blast. You'll have a great time there. Try to get to the seats in the front near the stage in the middle!! :wave2:

Thanks panwynn! Have you been to both the HDDR and the Spirit of Aloha? I've heard some conflicting things about the luau, but the reviews for the HDDR have all been wonderful. The price is kind of steep though, so I want to make sure we get the best time for our money :)

No we haven't been to both. We've only been to the Luau. It was great entertainment. I didn't like the food that great, but my husband did. That's all I can really offer. Sorry!

Celebrating my birthday with Breakfast at Crystal Palace and then Dinner at Ohana's this year :) You can order a cake at the restaurants for your birthday!

In November, we celebrated my husband's birthday with a wonderful dinner at Narcoossee's. We sat at a table by the window and when Wishes began, they dimmed the lights and piped in the music. I was able to order this special dessert tray there as well. We're just in the planning stages of going again this year, this time for MY birthday (isn't it nice of WDW to do so many nice things for my 50th?). I'm with you, it would be nice to be surprised, but it just ain't gonna happen!

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! That tray looks delicious!!! Could you actually see the fireworks good? Last year we stood in front of the castle and it was the most amazing thing I think we had every experienced (except for the birth of our daughter). It was truely awesome and not something you can really explain to people that have never experienced it. Just wondering.

Thanks again!!

Watching the fireworks from Narcoossee's was great but not as wonderful as in front of the castle. You see them from across the lake. It was just a really nice part of the birthday dinner.

A little off subject but.....sign up on Ghiradelli web site and they will send you a coupon for buy one get one free sundae at downtown disney. Make sure you answer yes to this question "Do you live within 50 miles of a Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop?" I got one today for my birthday next week.

Chef Mickey's is ALWAYS great for birthdays!! If you call the Contemporary Hotel directly, and ask to talk to the manager of Chef Mickey's (they'll connect you to the general Dining Manager, I believe), you can secretly add a PERSONALIZED BIRTHDAY CAKE to your Priority Seating!

I did it a few years ago, and it was like $25 extra -- not horrible for a special occassion. The cake was white, with a yummy raspberry filling between the layers, and white icing. They included a "patch" of white chocolate, with a design sprayed on it. (Nephew was into Thomas the Tank at the time, so we got Mickey in a train engine.)

If you tell them you have a birthday when you make your PS, they'll bring a cupcake to the table (but no cake). You should have seen Nephew's face -- and the faces of the other birthday families at the other tables -- when two CM's and Goofy came to our table with a full birthday cake!! (Five years later, Nephew's mother still can't watch the video without crying -- it was just too wonderful of an evening, even including Nephew popping himself in the eye while whirling his napkin, lol.)

We just got back from vacation and we went to Chef Mickeys for my DS 3rd birthday. I wasn't impressed. They didn't sing to him, say his name or anything. He got a cupcake w/ a candle to blow out and a placemat w/ signatures from the characters. The food wasn't as good as crystal palace either! I called about a cake w/ a Mickey face on it and it was $45!

The hotel was the best for my son's b-day. The morning of my son's B-day I left a birthday banner (mickey of course!), tape, balloons, a gift bag full of surprises and a note to housekeeping w/ a $10 tip. We got the cutest birthday decorations! We got several animal washcloths (at least 6), the banner was strug between the lights over our beds, balloons hung up, toys displayed... The wiggles characters were put out, the book was set up...etc! The hotel even gave us extra hellium balloons w/ a card from Mickey and that was the second set we got! The first set we got on the first day! It was very sweet!

We were at Beaches N Cream for lunch and they sang to him and gave him the cutest icecream desert that looked like Mickey Mouse! :earsgirl:
