Help with bailing out on an upcoming DVC reservation with expiring points

Long time lurker (over 10 years!) but first time poster seeking help on an upcoming (<60 days) DVC reservation that was made with our expiring banked points that expire right after the reservation. We are seriously thinking of bailing on this for a many personal reasons, and I would like to recover whatever value I can from these points.

From the research I have done, these are the two "best" options I have found:
1. Rent the entire reservation. I can do this here (looks like I have to purchase a $50 Gold membership plan since I just created my account), right? Or I can use a broker like the Timeshare Store?
2. I could deposit the points into RCI. Is it too late to do this? How much time would I have to use the RCI points?

I am going to continue researching this topic, but any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.

In answer to your questions, Yes, you could transfer the points to RCI, but I've never really found much of anything available in RCI, though many members do have good luck with RCI.

You can pay the $50 fee to offer the reservation here, but you can not offer it more than 30 days prior to check-in on our site. If you are interested in working with a broker, you may contact their respective websites and ask about their policies on existing reservations...there are some that deal with reservations.

Personally, I would try renting the reservation, either here or through a broker, rather than transferring to RCI.

If you decide to try to rent the reservation here on the Rent/Trade Board, I would submit the $50 payment a few days prior to your 30 days window, to give the person that processes payments and places the payment icons time to do so, so you can list your reservation right at the 30 day window.

That's a recent change, but it's only available to posters who have had their screen names for at least 6 months.

PLATINUM - DVC RENT/TRADE MEMBERSHIP PLAN

This option allows members to bypass the restriction of having a minimum of 50 non-Rent/Trade board posts (that contribute to discussions on the DIS forums) evenly spread over the last 6 months. Includes an icon under your DISboards profile. The Platinum Plan allows the same features as the gold plan except that one of the allowed existing reservations may be offered without regard for the arrival date up to 11 months before check-in.

$99.95 per year - For existing DISboards members that have had their DIS User name for at least 6 months

Yes. He would still need to purchase a plan because he just registered and does not have enough posts to waive the fee.
