Help with August flight prices!

desperately trying to book flights for next August, but struggling with the prices! They are coming out between £1500. - 2500 more than we paid last year for similar dates ! No luck with virgin, even the woman in the call centre couldn't believe the prices! The flights home ( after the 28th) are all pretty full already ! Just can't bring myself to pay 4-5k for economy flights! ( paid £3200 for a fly drive with VH last august) any tips? Any preferred indirect routes?

There were some bargains on a new route a few days ago with Norwgian Airlines, Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale direct at £418pp but looks like the lowest prices have gone unless you can go 25th Aug for 2 weeks, they are still available at £420pp Not sure if this link works to lowest fares available.

i don't know how flexible your dates are, but i live in orlando and everyone comes at the end of august thinking they'll beat the summer crowd. i don't think they remember that european schools start a bit later. really, you should try and come a couple weeks earlier, very end of july up until about august 10 is always relatively slow for summer. if you're super flexible on dates i'd recommend early june for a summer trip. hope i helped

Thanks will check it out, may be the first year in quite a few that we don't fly direct or with VA.

I booked a fly drive deal with BA and got 6 return economy flights and 3 weeks car hire for £4500 from 17th aug -6th sept

Thanks everyone, finally managed to book flights. We opted for flights to Miami, we got 4 PE flights with virgin with miles plus money for approx. £3500. Not the cheapest but overall best value for money we could find. Never flow PE before so looking forward to trying it out.
