Hello, we are visiting in Sept coming from NC, and looking into taking amtrak. What I whink we would need to do is rent a car upon arrival. I see that if we get off at the Orlando (downtown) station they have a Hertz counter at the station, but as far as I know Hertz is one of the pricier rental options??? If we go to Kissimmee, I am wondering what options are available there. Are there still car rental companies that offer the "we'll pick you up" thing? I am wondering if there is any way (from eiether station) to avoid having to fork over more money for a taxi/shuttle to a rental site.
If anyone has experience, or advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Also, we do normally drive as it is cheaper, but none of us have ever been on a train, and we are all liking the idea of a new adventure. Off that, does anyone know if Amtrak fares will change (up or down) the closer we get to September? We are looking at a roomette on the way down, but plan to do coach on the way home.
