Hello all - I am traveling in December and am tempted to add a day to our ressie. I called Delta and the hassle and charges far out way changing our dates with them. So my question is - does anyone have tips on how to find a great one-way fare? I have browsed orbitz and southwest daily, even checked out amtrak. I would like to find a one way for under $100 as it will be three of us - I'm also hoping for a 5:00PM or later departure.

Should I just give up and stick with what I've got, or does anyone have any help/tips?

Thanks so much in advance :thumbsup2

Delta has a very difficult and costly process for changes. I won't fly with them because of that. Have you heard about the southest DING? It's a program that you download and you choose what airports you fly out from. Then when they have a special deal a little ding goes off (like the sound of the call button on the airplane). When you click on it there is a link to the Ding fares. We have saved alot of money with the DINGs. I book my flights ahead of time because I need to know they are set, then I wait. When the fare goes down I call southwest and they give a credit back for the difference. They won't give cash, but the credits are transferable. I can usually find someone traveling that is willing to but the credits to help me out. I have never used one of those serch sites so I can't comment on them. Where are you flying from? SW is running specials to MCO for $79, but I think it's for Sept right now. Good Luck!!

Here is my best suggestion:

Northwest/Delta have a habit of changing your flight-times. Our last trip they were changed 3x! The last change made our flight not worth taking because we lost 1/2 day. They will switch your flight times/day if you complain enough! We totally cancelled out (like I said 1/2 day lost) at no fee/cancellation charges and booked with Spirit. Just think back on your reservation - have they changed anything yet? If so, say you dont like the change and have them change it! Or, if you can wait it out, I'm sure it will happen. LOL Good luck.

Little bit of a background - I booked out tickets back in April for round trip BOS to MCO. We live on Cape Cod, so we are flexible either flying into Boston or Providence. They did switch our flights once already, but it has us arrive 2 minutes later into Orlando and arrive 2 minutes later into Boston.

I have had no luck - ANYWHERE - finding a 12/12 flight from MCO to BOS that leaves after 5PM. I may download the SW Ding and give that a try. Thanks!

There are $79 & $89 fares to be had in December (and on weekends) through SWA. I keep checking for a drop, as we purchased 7 tickets, so savings can add up quickly.

DING! fares are coming through for September dates right now. So you might see them in around September for December if they aren't filling planes.

I just checked my Delta and it has changed for the 3rd time. It is fine, though...has us leaving a couple of hours later. I called the first 2 times and changed the flights they had assigned me with no problem. See if your flight changes then call them and tell them youdon'tlike your new assigned flight and change to the next day.

I went back and realized that instead of only being open to leaving Orlando on the 12th, I could also switch it up and leave Boston (or Providence) a day early - Dec 5. I did find one on SWA for $74 but I don't want to get in to Orlando at 4:30PM... I'm being picky and will either wait for the time I want at the price I want, or stick with what we've got...

I am really hoping that this happens!

Another thing about Delta, I was once flying on miles and they wouldn't let me go direct on my return, MCO to BOS. They changed my flight by several hours and I called, I was able to change to a direct flight. So if you have a flight that connects and you want direct, keep an eye out for time changes!

If you buy new tickets going TO Orlando, keep in mind that Delta will cancel your whole itinerary (going there and coming back) when you don't show up for your first flight. So you'll need to buy new tickets for coming home, too, which probably will not make this move worthwhile.

If you fly to Orlando on your current Delta ticket and don't show up for your trip home, it's no big deal - you just lose that part of your ticket, which you already know and are planning for.

OHHHHH :scared1: Good to know - Thanks! So I guess I will now be open to returning either the 12th or the 13th... wish us luck :)

I always fly AirTran.......Check them out...They have special's all the time and I just checked for December and it was 79.00 each way.

I would have to leave on a flight between 6AM and 8AM, I am being picky and would really like to leave later.

I got a direct flight from air tran from mco to dfw, 69$ each way, and both flights leave in the evening. don't forget about the 25$ coupon with them. If you do it right, you can get 25$ off each person's ticket. I know some people got as many codes as possible, so if you can't get a code, I'm sure some one has an extra one handy.

This is what I got right now looking at air tran... lots of good flight times for 89$ -25$ coupon = 64$ a flight (well it'll still be like 80-90 with the stupid taxes and fees.

And for dec 5 there's a ton of 74$ flights - 25$ coupon = 50$... all are 1 stop though.

Why do you want to go through so much hassle for one day?? I could see like 3 days or something, but what is one day going to get you?

What is this $25 coupon/code and where can I get one?!

I want to add one (leaving 12/12) or two (leaving 12/13) more days cause I want to be sure to "see it all" to the best of our ability...

See it all??? plan your next 3-4 vacations and you might. Especially at the holidays, it's so hard to see everything Disney does. I'd suggest taking the backstage tour of how they decorate for the holidays. That's something I'd love to be able to do.
And so many resorts have such good decorations. The Grand has a huge gingerbread house and they sell minature ones inside it, along with cookies and other goodies. The Beach Club has a huge chocolate carousel. Campers at Fort Wilderness decorate to the hilt (if you've got an extra 50$ rent a golf cart to see it all). The Christmas Party at MK, the Candlelight processional at Epcot, The Spectical of Lights at Studios... all these wonderful night time events. And if you have a car, go to the Gaylord Palms resort for thier ICE event.

It's nearly impossible to do all of Disney in 7 days with the holidays. Although the beginning of Dec is fairly quiet, so you'll be able to get on rides and such without much wait til. I've gone to Disney at Christmas time since 2004 and I still feel like I don't see everything I've wanted to.

...and I just realized that I can have my daughter "lap it" on the way home! No need to spend an extra $75-100 !
