I first posted this on the transportation board, but thought I would try here as well. Maybe some of you experienced summer cruisers can help!

We are doing the 7N Magic from July 24 -31. We plan on arriving the day before (23rd). I have been watching airfares for 2 months now and nothing has come down. We are flying out of NYC, preferably LGA, and I have checked Jetblue, Delta, Song, and American as well as all the travel websites. Fares range from 220 - 250 pp and we are a family of 4.

Please help!

1. Is it possible to get a lower fare for July? If so, what would be considered a good fare?

2. Should I wait a little longer? Or should I book now?

3. If I book now and fares go down, can I get the lower fare?

All of you have been so helpful, I hope you can be again!

Thanks is advance for your suggestions.

Book when it hits what youre willing to pay. Unless you pay full fare and get refundable tix you wont be able to switch to a lower fare later. You can set up travelocity to watch fares for you.

We just booked 6 adults from LGA to MCO on July 11-16 for $174.49 round trip on Song. Jet Blue is still about $223. I usually pay approx. $169 Round trip so for a few dollars more (and a few people more) I grabbed it. Good luck! I don't know if I would wait much longer as jet fuel costs are supposedly going up and guess who is going to pay for that.

Southeastern airlines flies out of smaller airports into Sanford. I think there are a couple airports in the NY/NJ area that they use. Our family of 4 was able to fly direct on Seal for 604 total, including taxes and fees. You might want to check out flyseal.com

Spirit Airlines is flying out of LGA to Orlando for $165 pp (includes taxes/fees)I don't have any personal experience with this airline but the price sounds good and it's a direct flight.Unfortunately in order to get this price you have to take the 7PM flight out.The times coming back are not bad.
Good Luck,Debbie

As I type this DH is on the wireless doing what everyone else is doing....checking flights for July. What a difference between carriers and websites!!! I personally like JetBlue but right now round trip for our family of three would be close to $800.00 because our dates and of course the times we want to leave nd return.

But, in checking with Song, leaving a little later in the day
:( and leaving out of LaGuardia instead of Kennedy we found a round trip fare for the three of us around $640.00. I could even get it lower but I refuse to arrive at 7PM in Orlando and then add another hour or so for shopping and stuff!

We'll continue to check through out the day but I keep telling DH that the longer we wait the greater the risk of higher fares comes into play.

Ms. WDW-
I agree, we will probably have to pay more for the flights we want. After the cruise, I don't want to wait until late evening to fly home, and 10:30 am will be too early.

Like your DH I will keep checking, but probably won't wait to much longer to book.

Good luck.

muntzfab4 - Hi Neighbor! :)

We just picked up 3 tickets directly from Delta.com. for $189.00 round trip each almost.
I say almost because these companies are slick. When I did the search originally based on 1 passenger, the price was $189 round trip. Ok..I bit the bullet and we're leaving later than I would really like to. But hey...we usually rest that first day anyway.
Ok, let's pick them up. I went back and selected 3 passengers and guess what...the fare went up to $229.00 each round trip for 3 passengers. So, I purchased 1 at $189.00 (mine), then went back and entered 1 passenger again (now for DH) and this time it was $209.00 round trip! So just for the heck of it, I went back and changed the number of passengers to 2 (DH and DS) and it was still $209 so I picked theirs up for $209.00 each R/T.

Good Luck on your selections! I'm really sorry I waited this long. I usually fly JetBlue but since I waited the fares are much higher now than they were 2 months ago. That'll teach me! :)

Flexible search on Orbitz, I am getting under $200 r-t for Spirit (best fares) also American and Song/Delta, all non-stop.

Good luck and have fun!

I waited too - my flight just jumped $50 per ticket (mpls to orlando 7/17 to 7/31) within the last couple of days. Crud.

jgates - we'll be there the same time.

Have you purchased your tickets yet?

About 1 week ago I booked through US Airways website from Phila. to Orl. July 18th and back July 28th. Roundtrip is $144. plus tax, bringing it to $176. per person for 4 of us. This was for 8am depart and 6pm return, non-stop flights both ways. I actually came up with 2 different rates depending on whether I searched by price or times on their website. By searching by price, I came up with the $176. By times, it would've been $199. Still haven't figured out why there's a difference, but it even makes note at the bottom of their page to try different ways.
