Our family is interested in possibly adding onto our current 200 point BCV contract. We are thinking another 100 pts AKV. What is advantage to owning at two seperate resorts? Can these points be combined at booking. We seem to have some confusion understanding this. We are really wanting only a total of 200 points (sometimes travel every other year)...is the resale market pretty good to sell 100 pts at BCV...and then purchase for AKV? HAs anyone done this and would you recommend this? :confused3 TIA!!!

The points can only be combined at 7 months.

You can't split your 200 point contract into two 100 point contracts. It will always be a 200 point contract.

As disneynutz said, you can only combine at 7 months. At 11 months, you can use only your AKV points to book at AKV, and only your BCV points to book at BCV.

Have you had trouble booking AKV, if that is where you want to stay, at 7 months? It sounds like you don't want to add to your 200 points, but you want to be able to stay at AKV. But AKV is a big resort, so unless your wants are quite specialized (concierge, holiday times) and you plan to book 11 months out, it seems like you should be able to get into AKV with your BCV points at 7 months.

Then you could sell BCV and buy AKV, but I don't think I'd go to the expense (at least 10% commission to sell) unless there were a really good reason to prefer AKV over BCV. BCV points are quite desirable, so if you needed to, maybe you could work out a trade of reservations with someone else who wanted a BCV reservation at 11 months. (Transferring points probably wouldn't work since each member # can only have one transfer either out or in in any use year.)

That's makes things easier. I would probably hold off selling if you can for awhile. The resale market is very weak still and the prices are very low. BCV was selling at $97 per point 2 years ago, now there are listings for $80. We have some AKV and BCV contracts that we would like to sell, but we will wait for the market to recover.

On the other hand, if you can afford to buy AKV, now is the time!
