Help with a Luggage ?

Ok, we are checking out of the Polynesian and have been told that Disney will take our luggage from there all the way to our stateroom. Is this true? Should we trust that this will happen? We will have our own car and wonder if we should just take it ourselves to be safe? Any insights?

I have never had any experience with Disney handling luggage transfers but there probably would be no problems.
Since you have a car, it would be no trouble just to throw the luggage in the trunk and transport it yourself to the port. When you get there then you can give it to the baggage handlers yourself.
You would know for sure where it was then.
That is what I would do anyways.

When we did our land and sea Disney took our luggage nd we did not have a problem. In fact we check in so we could go to the park's right away and when we got back our luggage was in the room. Hope this helps.

Don't you need to purchase the transfers for Disney to transport the luggage?

Since you have a car, you are driving to the port, right? IN that case, you have technically not paid for DCL to handle your luggage. This service is part of the transfer fee. The policy for people with transfers is that you put the luggage outside your hotel door and call the porter. You next see your luggage in your stateroom.

That said, I've heard of people doing exactly what you suggested with no problem. Alternatively, the way it is supposed to work without transfers is that you drive to the curb at the port where you are met by a porter. He takes your luggage, then you go and park and walk to the terminal (a very short walk.) You then proceed to the counters to check in and next see your luggage in your statefoom.
