Help with a ladies-only trip??

I'd love anyone's suggestions on how to tell my darling, wonderful, Disney-loving DH that I would like to go to WDW without him for the first time....without hurting his feelings! I've been thinking about planning a girls-only trip with my best friend from college to celebrate that we both finished our doctorates AND are turning (gulp) 30 this year. It's not that I don't have a fabulous time with him, but I kinda think it would be fun to just go with my best friend this time around. Hope that doesn't sound selfish.

How did other Dis DH's react??? What did you say???

I go on a girls only trip to Disney once a year with my mom and best girlfriend. The trick is I going during Super Soap Weekend. Which is the one weekend my DH would never want to be in Disney.

Perhaps you could plan a separate trip for you and DH for a later time so that he doesn't feel left out.

I'm going on my 3rd GAD - (girls at Disney) trip in May. DBF and I go about every other year, just the two of us.

We have a blast. The reason I get to go on this GAD trip is that DH does a guys only golf excursion in March (actually he's there right now) to NC and I call my GAD, my revenge trip.

He does not seem to mind not going on the GAD, he plans a project or two around the house.

I know this doesn't really answer your questions, but maybe he won't mind you going with your BF.

As long as you don't mind him going away with the guys for a similar period of time, I'd just say you're planning a girly getaway.

You could also "blame" your friend and say that she needs to get away and you're going purely as emotional support!

I waited until there was a small surprise amount of money to ask (you also have to wait for just the right time. After a little hugging and loving a drink or two and a little kissing his feet can't hurt either) It was under $200.00 but I told him that would pay for the food and I would share a room with the girls so I would save even more money. I also found a killer deal on air. It worked and he even suggested that I take a second girls only trip.

My DH felt a little left out when I said I was planning a trip for just my sister and I, but since then I've started planning a trip for he and I and he's much more open to it now - he just said he felt kind of left out of all the planning and talking about it. Good luck!

There are some things I like to do at WDW that DH would rather not do. Like Dumbo, Triceratop Spin, TTA, Cinderella's Golden Carousel, Goofy's Barnstormer, etc. So I let him know that when I go by myself I do those rides and that way I won't "bug" him to do them when we go together. So now he actually looks forward to my trips without him. When we're there together and I suggest going on a ride that he's not crazy about, he knows he can always say, "Why don't you do that the next time you're here without me."

I landed my first DBF trip this year and it was sooo awesome! We wore tiarras all day for a couple of days because we were truly princesses (by the way...super fun!) since our DH's let us go with their blessings.
I first "warmed" up my DH with idea of a short girls trip without telling him the destination quite yet. Then I suggested that he take a short vacation with the guys (which honestly I knew he wouldn't). Then I prodded it a little more with the idea well if you don't want to spend money on a guys trip, maybe he wanted to buy himself something sort of "guilt free". (Which we do anyway because we are rather spoiled. )
Then I hit him with my DBF really wants to go to WDW... a week or so later.
Honestly, I think he was kind of relieved. I've been kind of crazy with dragging the family there lately. He's even said "most people go once a year or every other year...not quarterly!"
Well let me say that the DBF trip was the best. We ran and skipped from ride to ride and rode It's a Small World like three times in a row. (Our family hates it!) We hit every single ride that we wanted to. We had intentions of enjoying wine in the evenings and hitting Pleasure Island. Who were we fooling? Us old ladies, (almost 40) collapsed in our beds shortly after park closing exausted! It was so great!

Last January we did a girls trip (4 of us) and had a blast. This past Jan. e were maybe gonna try US/IOA but when we heard it was EE previews, well ther was no question. This time it was 6 of us at a 2 bdrm in SS. We got off the plane and checked in , headed right for EE and rode 3 times. WE left AK and did dinner at Epcot and the Breathless to watch Illuminations. We did finish our night at B&C with a kitchen sink! The next day we did the sehway tour and massages in the afternoon. We ended night 2 at MK with Wishes. Although we did close down PI that night and I seem to remember something about a hot tub and guys? Day 3 was at MGM and a few thrills before lunch and back to ME. It was a short but great trip!! I do have a great husband and encourages our weekend but I don't tell how great it is (don't want to rub it in)!!!

I went with my sis-in law in december 2004---and it was honestly one of the best vacations we ever had-----we still talk about it and LAUGH!---You can do /see things that the guys or kids don't go for(SHOPPING), and just be your silly self without being a spouse or parent. Everyone should be lucky enough to go to the World with a girlfriend!!!!! Our husbands were glad we had such a good time----we went for four short days, and left six kids behind----it was such a great experience that I'm trying to plan one again this December------you should go celebrate---and a girls trip is a really fun way to do so------just be prepared to laugh your pants off!!!!

hmmm....well, you've definitely convinced me that it'll be a great time I think DH will understand....I like introducing the idea of "a girls' trip" and working up to the actual destination!! I also like the idea of tiaras.... who said PhD's can't be princesses too???

I agree - Earning a Doctorate deserves a Celebration. I go on Girl's Only Trips to WDW & elsewhere. DH doesn't mind at all. He has a couple Guys trips he does too, so it all balances out. It doesn't hurt that he doesn't love Disney the way I do. Also, I can do a girls trip to WDW pretty cheaply (I usually have an AP or leftover passes, find cheap airfare & split a room with friends)

WDW is a great destination with friends. Leaving for a trip with my Buddy in 25 days. Us gals needed a break from our lovely NE weather.
