We will be taking a 10yr. old cousin. We have a 5yr old and I'm trying to make a "goody" bag for each of them for on the way down. I have no idea what sort of things the 10yr. old would like. I don't want to ask him directly because I'd like it to be a surprise. Any suggestions. I know the 5yr old (almost 6) likes hot wheels, legos, etc. So far I've got 2 disposible camera's and a mickey key ring for both. Will that sort of stuff be ok for a 10yr old. Items less than $2.00 are best.

Thanks

Hi tigger,
I have a nine year old son and a 6 year old son. Finding things for a 6 year old is easy, but NOT for the 9 year old (they will each have birthdays the week after we get home from DW) So far all I have is, glow in the dark necklaces for night-time parade/activities, deck of BMX stunt bike Crazy 8 card game for on the plane, bought at a yard sale. (even if he won't play cards he can read them and look at the pictures). What about maybe a Biking/Skateboarding/Basketball or anything-he-might-be-interested-in magazine. Also have got them each a small portable fan on a neck string. Oh yeah, and they each have these really cute mickey ear flashlights that my husband got them on a trip he made to California. Wouldn't know where you could get them, maybe Disney Store? I will let you know if I come up with anything else, I'm always on the look out. It seems I have blinders on to focus on only things that are "Disney".

P.S. Almost forgot - I also got them each a Toy Story 2 photo album with Buzz on the cover, holds 60 photos. Only $1.99 at local liquidation store. I thought we would pick up postcards of the characters to have them autographed and they could be saved in the albums with lots of room left over for photos or other momentos. I will do up a card for the first page of these with clipart - to welcome them to Disney, from Mickey himself. Another idea I had was to make up a small business card size card with the MickeyMouse Club clipart and put their names on it and a space to fill in emergency information. They can then carry it in their pockets or with their tickets. Also got them each a lanyard to put this card and tickets in, but I don't know if it is practical to have them carry their own tickets.

I have a 9 yo daughter and 5 year old son. I really never have had a hard time filling their goody bags. I don't think boys are more difficult if you think "outside the box."

Items that might be of interest:

Color pencils (crayons melt)
Doodle or drawing pad
Disney pen for autographs
Autograph book
Gameboy or other hand held games
Lip balm (they have boy ones like Batman or Scoooby Doo at Walmart)
Sunscreen
Small water bottles/mister fans
Boy jewelry available at Claires
Temporary tatoos
Scented deodorant
Fragrance
Gum or candy
Hat
Socks
Card games
Trivia games
Books (especially joke books at that age)
String game book & string

I think you get the idea. We usually go to the Dollar Tree and Disney Store to get inspiration.

Hope this helps.

Yes, joke book would be good I've been thinking and thought of Mad Libs, remember those, He and I could do it and then he could read it to Ds who is 5 and can't read yet. Fun for us all. Also Pez dispenser is inexpensive, Fruit roll-ups or fruit by the foot. I don't want to spend alot, we are already paying for this childs trip, but I would like to make it as special as possible. I'll look into the small fan thing, I got them both small waist packs. I think Disney pen and maybe toothbrush also. We will be getting autograph books at DTD.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I just saw the small battery operated fans on a cord @ WalMart next to the sunscreen, $ .94. What about a "home made" trial size bottle of sunscreen? My 10 yo prefers to do that himself.

I got the same items for each of my 3 DS(s): age 6, 9, 11.

Disposable cameras
Miniature playing card decks (from the Dollar Store)
Toy (but usable) binoculars
Disney-themed miniature notebooks and pens
Teeny tiny army guy sets (from the Dollar Store)
Travel size Magnetic games (checkers, chutes & ladders, parchesi)
Disney-themed Pez
Word search puzzles and brain teasers (for airplane trip)
Guest of Honor pins
Battery operated fans
Keychain flashlights
Glow in the dark necklaces
Small containers of bubbles (from the Dollar Store)

They've already seen the loot and are extremely pleased (even my 11 yo DS).

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I think this will be such a special trip for him. Anything will be appreciated. He is way more excited than my son. Going to WDW is something he'd never even dream about and now he's going. Just makes me feel great to see it through his eyes, and I want to make it a wonderful trip.

I'm off to check out the Dollar Store!
