I am in need of some help !! :listen:

I am putting together a 60th Birthday party for my mom and I need some ideas the only thing I have set in place is the place which will be at the local fire station hall so from there I need lots of ideas...

So anyone who has some ideas please chime in I need all the help I can get ...

Not sure what kind of ideas you're looking for but I'd go for buffet type service & hire a DJ. Any particular type theme you thought of having? Good luck!

maybe a oldies type thing I have talked wit ha DJ and I think I am going to book him

Maybe you should look at something like Orietal Trading.com to get some ideas for party themes. A good DJ will also do things like party songs & maybe games. Karoake is always fun too.

When the boss (my actual boss, at work even...not another name for my DGF) turned 60 this past August we decorated his office with 60 rubber ducks (thank you Oriental Trading). There were Hippy Ducks, Military Ducks (he was an MP in the 60's), all sorts of different ducks.....his birthday was "just ducky".

Okay, so that may not be the most helpful, but 60 rubber duckies are cute.

My sister and I are planning a 60th suprise party for our Mom in March.
We tossed around the idea of a restuarant vs her house.
We decided on my sisters house and we are going to get party trays from Wegmans. Thats as fars as we got so far.
When is your party? How many are you inviting?

the party is the first week of February and it will be around 100-150 people
( my mom is 1 of 17)

If the party is being held before her birthday, you can have a $59.99 party. My friend did that for her brother when he turned 40. The party was a surprise for him and she sent out invitations that said, "Come to Mike's $39.99 party. Hurry before the price goes up!"

They did a buffet and they had a DJ. Mike opened his gifts in front of everyone because everyone bought him funny things. His nephews collected pennies from everyone to send Uncle Mike to Las Vegas so he could get married. The boys actually went from table to table and collected about $120 to tease Mike that he should get married already. He's 41 now, married and has a baby on the way. (I don't think the collection had much to do with his decision, though. :p )

There were about as many people at his party as will be at your Mom's.

we just had an 80th bday party for my mom.......she had put together a dvd of our old home movies and i brought my laptop and had the dvd running on a side table.....lots of folks enjoyed seeing them.......just kind of ran it over and over and folks strolled over to catch a glimpse as they desired....

I have to plan a 60th b-day party for my dad, too. He'll be 60 on March 1st, but I'm thinking of having the party at the end of March to keep it a surprise and to reduce the risk of having bad weather.

I have NO clue where it should be held, how many people, etc. I have been thinking of a decade theme (food/decorations/music from the 40's-50's-60's-70's-80's-90's and 00's) but I'm not sure.

I'll be reading this thread to get some ideas. Thanks for posting this and all the ideas....
