We have stayed at Windsor Palms numerous times but I see many posts here about Windsor Hills. Can you tell me about that subdivision? What makes it so popular and what distinguishes it from Windsor Palms? I realize it is a bit closer to Disney property but not really a significant amount in my mind.

What housing options do they have - condos? townhomes? pool homes? Is there a clubhouse and community pool? What reasons would you give for choosing Hills over Palms?

Thanks.

Windsor Hills is a newer resort and therefore commands higher prices than Windsor Palms. Most homes in Windsor Hills were built between 2004-2008 compared to 2000-2002 for Windsor Palms. Homes built in the Reserve section of Windsor Hills usually have upper end finishings (ie. cherry cabinets, granite and SS appliances in the kitchen) with nicer furnishings. Both resorts have condos, townhomes and private pool homes.

The community pool at Windsor Hills has a waterslide as well as a zero entry for younger kids; the community pool at Windsor Palms only has a lap pool.

The clubhouse at Windsor Hills has ping pong tables, pool tables, arcade games, and a small movie theatre area. I don't know anything about the clubhouse at Windsor Palms.

All of the 4 BR and many of the 5 BR homes in Windsor Hills have an en-suite bathroom attached to each bedroom. The homes in Windsor Palms are configured as a 4 BR/3 bath, 5 BR/4 bath or 6 BR/4 bath (Windsor Hills also has the 6 BR/4 bath). The 4 BR homes in Windsor Hills do not have a whirpool tub while they do in Windsor Palms.

We choose to stay in Windsor Hills because I prefer the nicer kitchen, and our kids love the waterslide at the community pool. In addition, the game rooms have been nicer in the homes I've seen in Windsor Hills (the game room is a necessity for my kids); however, I've seen pictures of the conservation view homes in Windsor Palms and would stay there in a heartbeat.

Romacing the Mouse has a page that highlights the differences between the two communities (as they offer homes in both) - here is the link:

I believe Windsor Hills is a little bit newer. That being said, I also think sometimes it is more money because of that.

We have stayed at both and prefer Windsor Hills. The main reasons are :

1. A few minutes closer to the parks
2. Newer property - units seem newer
3. Kids like the pool better (waterslide)

The owner we rent from charges $10 more a night to stay at WH and we feel this is reasonable for a bit nicer place.

Thanks everyone. Perhaps we'll consider a stay at Windsor Hills next visit, though we're perfectly happy with the accommodations at Windsor Palms. Might be nice just for a change of scenery.
