My sons plays summer travel ball and the team wears white baseball pants. I usually spray stains with Shout and use Tide detergent. That usually works pretty good. He came home from last nights game with his pants completely dirt covered. I have washed them 2x so far and still dirt stains.
Any suggestions? :confused3

I use the Tide Boost. It's gotten out stains that had been on shirts for quite some time.

My mom swore by this when my brothers were playing and I used it for my son

Fill the washer with hot water. Pour in a cup of bleach, detergent and dish washer detergent

Soak for about 30 minutes the. Run the load They should come out great

I use this occasionally to brighten our whites as well.

Clorox for colors works great on whites too.

I was afraid to use bleach because they have a green pinstripe down the leg.

The closest store did not have Fels-Naptha. I will try the Clorox for colors.

I use the stick stain remover. Works much better than the spray for the pants. On the rare occasion that doesn't work I will put the stick on, and soak overnight in Oxy clean.

I have bleached some items even with color. It depends a great deal on the fabric. If the pants are made of polyester, like ours were, they will probably be fine. Just use a conservative amount.

I have returned to some older products. We have this ongoing sour towel smell that I alternate using ammonia and borax in the wash. I use one for a few loads then switch out. It has helped a great deal. Even with the air conditioner on we get this cause my house full of men can't get it in their heads that wet towels in a heap in their rooms will start to stink. :confused3

Lestoil is another known to tackle stains well. All these are a lot cheaper than the new products. I always use Tide free along with these products.

Try Dawn Dish Washing Liquid.

It takes out all kinds of dirt.

Rub it into the stains really well and then launder as usual.

I have heard folks having luck with Fels-Naptha. It's a bar that you can usually find with the other laundry items (some places have it with the stain removers, other with the laundry soap..it can vary).

:thumbsup2
I started using Fels-Naptha this spring baseball season on my boys baseball pants. It does take some scrubbing, but it works far better than anything I've ever tried before.

Ha! You wash them?

I'm flashing back to an 8 day High School baseball tournament I chaperoned in Las Vegas..........2 sets of uniforms......both with white pants......nothing got washed the entire time......kind of a badge of honor the last day of the tournament, which team had the dirtiest uniforms.

You haven't lived until you have chaperoned 19 teenaged boys from a Catholic High School to a baseball tournament in Sin City!

Cascade liquid dishwasher detergent. Got this tip from another baseball mom a few years back :thumbsup2
Worked great on red mud/dust/dirt!

My daughter had white pants last season. I'd spray them with Oxi Max and then wash them with regular detergent and threw in a scoop of powdered Oxi (use HOT water) for good measure. Once in awhile it took 2 times through the wash, but once was usually good enough.

Oxyclean. Use 3-4 scoops and I can guarantee they will be white. I would not use bleach. They will not come out white. The material they are made of will look dingey (sp?) with bleach. I swear Oxyclean is made of something magical. It gets every stain out. :wizard:

Liquid oxyclean! My sons football pants were white and were always covered in dirt and grass stains. Oxyclean worked wonders! Spray it on, rub it in really good and leave sit for 5 minutes, then wash. It even gets things out after drying.

Iron Out. If you use this, there is no need for shout or spray n wash or oxyclean. You only need those if you have grass stains. We have a pinstripe down the side so using bleach is out, but Iron Out has kept our white pants looking like new. And my boy is a catcher, so they are coverd in dirt.

Wow. Thanks for all the advice. I ended up washing them 2x with regular Tide and then I got some Tide with bleach alternative for colors and washed them again. Most of it came out. There was just a sort of beige shadow in some parts. Next time I am shopping I will pick up some Oxi-Clean. I used it some when it first came out many years and wasn't very impressed. Maybe it has gotten better.

Thanks again. I knew I would get a lot of help here. ;)

Make sure you use the Oxi in hot water. It does not work well at all in cold. My Mom was using it in cold water and it wasn't working, she called the company to complain. They told her flat out "Oxiclean works best in hot water."

The OxiMax comes in a spray bottle and I just spray it and let it set for 5 minutes (usually long enough to throw the load that is in the washer into the dryer and to set the washer up for the next load).

Simple Green full strength. Spray it on, let it sit for a while. Wash as usual. It may take a couple of shots, but it'll come out.
It's availaable at Home Depot. Lowes.
In my area, it
s also available at Stop & Shop.
