I found myself in a pickle with only 6 days to my trip. I am left with only $350.00 cash for my 7 day trip for a family of 5. I'll have to conserve big time. I'll be linking a CC to my resort key, but I know I'll need cash for some snack counters that do not accept cc or resort keys. I need to know which eateries to avoid so that I can make my $ last. I can't believe this happened I had an unexpected huge expense pop up and now I'm left with not enough $$$$$$ :scratchin

I believe that even the popcorn/ice cream vendor carts in WDWaccept room key charges now..... All the better for you to give Disney your $$$. ;)

Have fun!

when I was there in October I did not encounter any restaurants or vendors that only accept cash - I do not carry cash with me in the parks and never had a problem

If you want to save alot of money on snacks bring some water bottles with you and some powder drink packets with you-ex.lemonade or ice tea, Or buy the large size drink and split it between your family-bring paper cups. The largest drink is usually not much more money but is enough for several people.
As far as ice cream snacks I have no idea how you can save money there because ices and ice cream is always around 2.50 to 3 dollars. Maybe you can bring some cookies or chips in with you in your backpack.

Hope this helps.
Have a great time! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:  :cool1:

I just thought of something else , I saw this tip on the budget board- to save even more money you can get a value meal for your kids-if you get a double burger and bring an extra roll with you, you can easily make 2 burgers and they can split the fries and drink-it is usually plenty of food for 2. Or they can eat their burgers open face with just half the roll. Food can get very expensive at Disney, if you can save here and there it really can add up over a week. Good luck and have fun.

to order an extra bun is 80 cents - I do this every time

I'm not as concerned with the spending it's just a temporary set back. I am just short on cash. I think I am vacation jinksed everytime I book a vacation I have some financial emergency either right before or right after the trip. This time it was right before which diverted my vacation cash. I will have to pay my cc in Dec. in full it's a charge card not a credit card as I do not want debt, I'm just short on cash for my actual trip. Thank you all so much for your feedback. I'm glad it sounds as if all vendors accept the resort card to pay.

jellyrolls is not disney owned so they do not take room keys ..not for admission...not for drinks...

Sometimes I use CC for small items, but sometimes it is nice to have cash for those small items. Most places took credit cards that I found, even some of the small carts (the German pretzel cart in Epcot). I think any place that is part of the new dining program has to be able to read magnetic strips, I think....But I also think maybe there was an ice cream cart in the MK that we found that was unable to take them....or maybe that was last trip. You will need cash for the penny presses, if that is something you want. They are pretty inexpensive. If you plan on doing the autograph book thing, you may want to splurge for a real Disney one, but I also saw lots of kids with non-Disney ones too. I should think you could find an inexpensive one any at any kind of store like Target, Kmart or a card store.

Also ESPN and anything at the Swan/Dolphin will take cc, but not room keys.

hi! As most posters have stated, even the tiny snack carts take cc's now. In May I used my cc at ice cream carts in MK and Epcot that I remember. Have such an awesome time!!!!! :flower:

In Sept., the Kaki Gori stand in Japan did not accept room cards or credit cards. There was a small sign stating this, but I didn't notice it until after I ordered. Luckily DD had a few Disney Dollars, because I didn't have any cash.

There are a handful of carts that do not accept room key. Most of the espresso stands do not take them, there are a couple of carts thruout Disney that don't take cards yet, but they will always point you to a cart 6 feet away that does LOL!

So I'd say the biggest thing is if you want something from the espresso stand (coffee, pasteries etc). Otherwise you should be fine. I think we spend less than $20/week in cash when we go.

There was a Kiosk in America in Epcot that sold coffee and pastries that did not take cards in October. That is the only place I can think of that we encountered.
