Help - which pocket game/music/gadget?????

We are thinking about this type of thing for DS...
But, as much as I HATE to show my age, and how non-techie I have become, I realize I don't really know what to buy?

I see somebody else just mentioned the I-touch, which my son has noticed.
Today, we were noticing the DS-i at a low price.
And there are other options too.

I know that older kids/teens have smart-phone computers with every imaginable capability. That is just too much for DS, and stiff on the wallet.

What have your kids had and enjoyed???

Any recommendations appreciated!

I recommend the DSi, it has so many games for it I think it would be a better option, plus much cheaper! I have the DS lite and I got it maybe 5 years ago and still play it all the time!

How old is your DS? that might help us to figure out what would be best to get for him

Ohhh, my son is 12. He is not the street/techie savvy teen YET.

I am wondering just what each of these can do.
I am assuming that with iTouch, you can also download games.
How good is the camera on the DSi? My son likes to fool around with the camera on our phone.
Not that he is into it yet, but with the DSi, it sounds like when wireless is available, you can use it to go online, mess around, send messages, etc.

I guess I just don't know what all the iTouch can do, and how to compare.

I don't know a whole lot about the touch, but I know that my students LOVE their DS's.At 12 I think there are a TON of games he would love, and you can find them cheap on Amazon or at pretty much any store. on the touch yeah he could download games, im not sure about the selection though.

the camera on the DSi is pretty good, and the online/wifi feature is reallly nice, its fun to send messages and all that.

I would check reviews online and see what you think the best fit would be but my vote is 100% DS

Ds12 has had a ds for 6 years, but loves his ipod touch.

My son 12, loves his ipod touch. He hasn't played his DS since he got it.
The new iPods have a camera on it.
I would go with iPod over a DS.

He can down load new games for a $1 vs $30-$40 for DS games.
