We have stayed at POP the last two years and loved it. However due to a tragedy in our family so there are a ton of memories there. That being said we are looking to upgrade to a moderate resort. I have looked at all of them but cannot make a decision. So I need input! The good, the bad, whatever you have!

Things that are more important to me would be quickest transportation to and from parks, good counter service meals, and nice pools!

We will be a party of 10 so we will have to reserve 3 rooms if that makes a difference.

thanks!

Well, I was going to suggest POFQ because so far, it's our favorite Mod. But given the criteria, I'm thinking it won't work for you. We never use the buses and didn't really eat at the resort. And the pool, while fine for us, is probably a little less than what you'd want.

From what I've read, I might suggest CSR, although I myself have no stayed there. I think I've read that they have good bus service and the best pool on property (in many opinions) and I know that a lot of people like the Pepper Market too.

I'm sorry about your family situation, but I certainly understand not wanting to go someplace with bad memories.

For the things you want, I would definately recommend CSR. It is our favorite moderate and among the top 2 for us of all the Disney resorts. The bus service is wonderful and does not share with an other resort. The Pepper Market has a wide variety and very good food (IMO):) . The pool and slide are so much fun and the resort is just beautifully landscaped and themed!!! We just love CSR...:goodvibes

Another vote for CSR, it's a terrific resort and the kids will love the pool area and playgroud!!

Perhaps you would enjoy the wilderness cabins. They are located right on the lake with easy access to MK and you can have up to 6 people in the cabin.

I also love Port Orleans as an option. Its not too big, so you can get around really easy and you can take the boats to DTD.

You might even be able to rent a DVC room for around the same price.

Thanks

a vote for POFQ...the decor & theming is beautiful. The pool is wonderful (has a themed slide for the kids.) The food court was fine for us, but you can also use the pools & food court at the sister resort (Port Orleans Riverside) Both pool & food court is larger at POR. The boat to DTD is fab (also goes to POR.) We found the bus service at POFQ to be good...10-15 min. wait for park busses generally.

Another vote for POFQ! Boat to DTD is great. We mainly like the size of the resort. No matter where you are, you are close to the pool and main building. And, we love the theming.

My vote is POFQ.
  • Busses are good
  • Counter service is adequate
  • Pool is great

We stayed at CSR in 2000 and liked it quite a lot
  • Busses were good
  • Counter service was absolutely horrible and expensive
  • Pool was great

The Pepper Market was horrible in 2000. CM attitudes were awful, service was unforgiveably slow, and food was mediocre and expensive. But, maybe is better now.

without knowing the ages of your guests :confused3 it's difficult BUT we LOVE POR!! quiet ... beautiful grounds... great food ...sorry for your loss but enjoy your trip:goodvibes

I'll suggest POR. We went last Nov., during Thanksgiving no less. We ate at the food court many times and never had a complaint. I do see alot of people complain about the buses. But we never had more than a 10 - 15 minute wait for a bus.

Rooms were quiet and we had a quiet pool within feet of our room. Boat ride to DTD was a plus. Carriage rides were great, as was the general store. Not to mention Bob, the piano player at the bar.

We liked it so much we're going back on this Thanksgiving.

Just some input...

CSR!! Awesome pool, terrific transportation and great food! Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

We love POFQ.:lovestruc DD8 loves the pool. The food court is good and they have beignets! :goodvibes The smaller size is nice. And you can jump on one of the boats to get to DTD or POR. A nice benefit.

My 2nd choice would be CBR-we stayed here in Jan . 06 with my 2 DSis, DM, DNiece24, and DD7. We stayed in Jamaica and it was a quick walk to the food court and main pool. The pools are nice. They have the main pool and several quiet pools. The food court is one of the nicer ones.

We've stayed and CSR and didn't like it. Maybe it was just to big and I prefer the regular food court vs Pepper Market. (JMHO) And, we had a hard time finding the main pool-we weren't the only ones either. :confused3

I can't say about busses as we always have a rental.

HTH.

 Hugs to you for whatever is hurting you and keeping you from returning to a place you enjoy.

I suggest POFQ. My reasons:
  • Beautiful Grounds
  • Great Mousekeeping
  • Super-friendly CMs
  • Everything is close to everything else
  • Excellent Bus service

POR is also good for these reasons:
  • Beautiful grounds
  • Good Mousekeeping
  • Nice CMs
  • Good Bus Service
  • Have a sit-down restaurant on property

I do not suggest CSR for these reasons:
  • Pepper Market Food Court is disgusting
  • CMS are rude
  • Mousekeeping is mediocre
  • Bus Service is slow
  • Resort is very spread-out
I have never stayed at Caribbean Beach to comment.

Another vote for CSR! Great CM's, simply beautiful at night and the atmosphere is tremendous! No shared transportation is a major plus!

CSR would be my choice! My kids love the resort, the pool and the meals. There are so many choices and everything is cooked fresh. The burgers are grilled to order, very good. Also, you can get a steak and it only counts as counter service credit if you're on the dining plan.

The CM's have always been friendly and courteous to us. The grounds are gorgeous and DW and I love to walk around at night.

I don't have nearly the experience to draw from that many othere here do, but the first of our two trips was to PO Riverside and we LOVED it!

Great pools, rooms and location. Never had any problems with timely bus service. It's also fun to take the short boat ride over to POFQ and check out their great pool or continue on the boat over to Downtown Disney.

We've never been to CSR, so I can't compare, but my whole family just loved Riverside.

I would definitely suggest CSR. It is a great resort with a great pool for kids with a terrific slide, playground, arcade, volleyball court and largest hot tub of Disney moderates. There is also the Spa/Fitness Center, bike and boat rentals, fishing. The walkways are lovely and it is beautiful at night when the sun has gone down and the lights are on to walk around the lake or the fountains in the casitas section. I will agree that the servers at the Pepper Market are not the friendliest (this is NOT a Disney owned establishment), but the food is terrific, portions huge (definite sharing can be done of a meal). If you are not on dining plan and want to avoid 10% service charge, ask for your food to go! Mousekeeping and the CM's have always been great 9and we have stayed there six times and will be there for our 7th stay for our 25th wedding anniversary in two months). We don't use the buses, but everyone we have talked to that we visited with on our stays has said they are the BEST buses they have ever used.

I am sure wherever you end up that you will be happy just being at Disney.

**Get well dad...we need you.

My vote is DEFINITELY CSR! I have told many family members and friends and once they tried it out they agreed it is the #1 moderate in terms of pool, busses and food court. We have never had an issue with any of those things..unlike another mod that I won't mention...

Thing is with all this good press it'll become much more crowded at my beloved CSR!

I would suggest POr/Pofq. great food courts, good bus service, good amenities.POR is large but not un-manageable.

CSR was a beautiful resort with a great pool but just too big for our taste and we thought the food court was not good at all and way overpriced.

I have never stayed at Carribbean.
