hi everyone,

we have booked for 16 nights, and are spending 13 nights at the animal kingdom lodge, but we are going to spend the first 3 nights at a moderate resort. the FAQs on the boards have been helpful but we can't decide, i like the look of coronado springs, but worried about it being a convention centre. my brother likes the look of carribean beach resort. i would really like to know your opinions on where we should stay and any personal experiences of the resorts which will help us to make a decision.

thanks

I have stayed at both. We didn't have any problems with the conventions at CSR. It all comes down to theming. Pick the one you like best. You can't go wrong with either.

i have been to all 3 hotels. first of all, if this is your first time to akl, you are going to love it! as for caribbean beach. i haven't been there in the last 10 years. but from what i do remember, i loved it. we stayed in the martinique building which was very convenient. the rooms were nice and comfortable and the food court had many options. we didn't swim in the main pool, only quiet one so i can't speak on that. as for coronado, i stayed there last year and it is a very beautiful resort. we saw a few people there on business but they didn't overtake the resort. we stayed in the casitas building and even though it was a far walk to the main pool, we loved it. the buildings and grounds in the casitas is so beautiful. and the main pool, all i can say is WOW! the pool was huge and the kids didn't want to get off of the water slide. some days we had to pry them away to go to the parks. they wanted to swim all day. the lake area was beautiful as well. the room was the same as caribbean, nice and comfortable.

as for drawbacks: for caribbean beach, the bus ride to pick everyone up at the different bus stops some times took a really long time. i remember our bus driver never announcing the stops and there were no lights so at night, it was very difficult to see out of the bus and see your stop. i hope that they have changed this. for coronado, the food court was way too expensive. because of the conventions, the food is geared as such and cost us a fortune if we went in there. the food court at caribbean is much better and to me, more convenient in filling your refillable mug if you are in to that.

i hope i have helped. i think that either woud be a good choice for your first 3 nights.

:D

I have stayed at both the CSR and the CBR. Both are great. I would choose the CSR over the CBR because of the pool...it's bigger and has a better slide. I didn't have a problem with any of the conventions being held there. Like someone else said, it all comes down to theming, so pick the one you like best. Have a great time.

Let me start by saying "Wow! Sixteen nights?! Can I have your job?!" Now, to answer your question.

My wife and I have stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside and the Caribbean Beach.

Unfortunately, we have not stayed at Coronado Springs. We also have concerns about the conferences taking place. The last thing I want to see on vacation is a bunch of co-workers walking around in suits...especially at Disney World. That kind of atmosphere, though I'm sure done well, just doesn't gel with my view of "Disney World."

Out of the three we have stayed at, we enjoyed the French Quarter the most. We were without kids (at the time), and it was a more intimate, somewhat smaller resort. More "adult," in the good sense of the word.

Since you asked specifically about the Caribbean Beach Resort, it is very nice. The view outside our room, which was just into a courtyard area, was very well themed and reminded me that I was definately not in Michigan any more. It's a big resort, but then so is Port Orleans Riverside.

Bottomline, you really can't go wrong with any of the ones where we've stayed.

CSR! You can't go wrong with any of them but it will depend on what kind of theme you want to surround yourself with. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

Good luck deciding!

We are staying at the CSR for the 3rd time in Feb. It's a beautiful resort with a great pool. What's also nice is the gym and other amenities not available in other moderates. We have never seen much in the way of conventions there. It is such a big place that I don't think one group would overtake it. We also stayed once in the caribbean beach and it was very nice with excellent service so you can't go wrong. Have fun!

CBR! :sunny: It's a fun, cheery resort!!

You can't go wrong with any of them but it will depend on what kind of theme you want to surround yourself with. Check out my CBR website below for pics and info.

Have fun planning! :cool2:
