Thanks for your help with my last thread, another question -
Staying over at Gatwick before hol, thinking of twlight check in but need help on which hotel. Gatwick Hilton or Holiday Inn Gatwick. Any comments, thoughts or other suggestions greatly needed.
Thanks

We stayed at the Hilton & found it to be very good though I have seen some posts that don't agree!!

We found the benefit of staying so close was that you could go into the airport & eat in the evening so you don't have to pay hotel prices for food!

Another vote for the Gatwick Hilton:)

We stayed here in Dec and found it to be very nice and very close to the airport to use twilight checkin.
We also had parking included and the car was parked right next to the entrance of the hotel.

We would stay here again.
::yes::

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Gatwick on both trips and found it fine. Would have no problem staying there again.

We used twilight check-in in Oct. Checked our bags in, ate dinner at the airport then drove to the hotel, its only about 5 minutes away. Had a drink in the bar and then off to bed. Beds are very comfortable in this hotel. Next morning the bus, which you have to pay a couple of £s for, drops you at the terminal. Have had no problems with the bus there or back either times we stayed.

We are using the Hilton this time in Oct but without parking.

We've stayed at the Holiday Inn and had no probs - much the same as Annmarie, ate at airport and then toddled off the the HI.

For those of you who've stayed at the Hilton, did you book it directly with them? I've heard that you have to use the long term car park at the airport

We have been looking at a hotel for the twlight check-in and possibly airport parking. The only problem we had is that we would need the parking for longer than the included 14/15 days that they give you. I think we need 17 days. Has anyone come up against this and what was your solution?

The Hilton includes 16 days I think & then they charge you extra when you collect the car if you've gone over that. i think you have to tell them when you book though.

I don't suppose you know how much an extra day would cost at the Hilton, its expensive enough to stay there at £100 a night without having to pay loads for because im one day out of the parking fee.

I can't really remember - only a few ££, around £5 I think. Certainly no more than long stay would be anyway.

If you phone the Hilton they should be able to tell you.

Thanks so far for your comments - where is the parking for the H Inn? and is all parking for the Hilton in the long stay car park. I tried to phone the hilton but the phone number was not correct, it said I did not have access on that number!

Try www.holidayextras.co.uk for your hotel booking. They do some very good deals on all the airport hotels, with or without parking. I've already booked a room at Le Meridien, Gatwick for myself, DH & DD this October for £74. I've found them to be cheaper than any other site.

Good luck!

We don't need car parking but we got a quad at the Ramada plaza and a double at the same hotel for £55 each - easily the best value rooms I have come across. I hope the hotel will be alright but so long as it is clean I don't care cause I will spend the whole night thinking... "We're going to Orlando! YAYAYAY!"

I will be like the annoying family in the WDW advert! "I can't sleep I'm too excited!" "Mum says its just Maaaaggggiccaaaaalll"

Just booked our hotel - Holiday Inn Gatwick £119 incl parking. The parking is there on-site and it costs about £10 to get to the airport. They don't have any family rooms though - a double bed and a double sofa-bed. Think we can manage with that for one night:p we will literally just be sleeping there. From past experience I know, and we're planning already, to check-in, wander round the airport, have a meal then go a kip down for the night. Then up early the next morning all excited cos we're off to the Magic:Pinkbounc

Was going to book Hilton but at £185 and then not being able to park at the hotelthink I'd rather spend the difference on a meal in Florida :teeth:

Now I've booked that what else can I do:confused:  Everything's booked and I'm ready to go LOL

We used the Russ Hill Hotel last year.
Family room for £80 including parking and courtesy bus (5 minute journey) to and from the airport hourly throughout the day.

I've stayed at both the Hilton and Le Meridien - and unless there is a huge difference in price (though except for the very first time, Le Meridien has always been the same or cheaper) I would always choose Le Meridien. It's soooooo nice staying onsite the night before - I wouldn't do it any other way!!!

I always book through Holiday Extra's too and it's always cost in the region of £80 (without parking).

Thanks for all your comments, we have booked the Hilton. Now I can move onto the next part of the planning. I looovee planning, nearly as much as being there.

We stayed in the Hilton on our last trip, was excellent being so close. We r thinking of Le Meridien or another hotel this time, hoping it will be good.:Pinkbounc
