Hi! We might be taking our first trip to WDW this September I am losing sleep over trying o decide where to stay. Thus far the POR or the FW Cabins seem good but a very sweet DISer suggested I check out the DVC section of this site.

It seems like points for some DVCs are harder to rent than others. I also know that dates can be an issue. Are my dates okay? Too close? Our tentative dates are Sept. 15-24 or Sept. 16-25. I would appreciate any help and direction! :goodvibes

ETA: Looks like I can save $$ by choosing the latter of my two dates.

Since a lot of people will be going for the free dining in Sept (and when you stay on DVC points you don't get free dining), you might be okay with your dates.

The smaller resorts are harder to get - BCV, VWL and BWV. OKW and SSR would probably have more availability.

No free dining when renting DVC points? Thank you for the info. No free dining, no WDW according to DH. ;)

When you rent DVC points, you are not purchasing a package with the room at rack rate. So no free dining. However, if you make a reservation directly through Disney, include the required tickets for all in the party, then you can get the free dining.

You could get free dining and still stay at DVC if you want. Just pay CRO the rack rate/night for your DVC villa.

You could stay at BWV for example, for only about $350/night and get the free dining, OR, you could rent points and stay at BWV for about $120/night, and not get free dining.

I'm just guessing the $230/night you save just might pay for your dining that way.....:thumbsup2

Definitely do a cost analysis of renting points at DVC w/paid DDP, vs. CRO rack rates w/free DDP. Depending on what resort you decided on, it could be a wash, and you might get a bigger DVC unit to boot. Of course, renting points isn't as clean as a straight CRO reservation.

i agree. on another thread, someone showed that the cost of renting dvc, and paying for dining, etc, it would only a hundred dollars, or so more to stay dvc compared to a moderate resort. don't count it out.

Excellent info- thanks! :woohoo: Our family of 5 would cost $142ish a day for the DDP.
