Help!! Where Is Best Place To Stay??

Myself, husband, grandparents and 2 children 11 & 10 are defo going to DLP this year!! Any suggestions on where to stay (none of us are into walking!!) and where is best place to book it?? Thanks

Enjoy planning your trip!

We've been three times and always stayed in one of the disney hotels. If you don't like walking and can afford, you can stay in the pink Disneyland hotel which is in the park. All the other hotels offer free shuttle buses to the park so it's not too bad. We love walking and we always walk around the lake near the Disney Village to get to the park unless the weather is bad.

We've stayed in Sequoia Lodge, Newport Bay and Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge is our favourite. We're going back there in April and really look forward to it. Never stayed in the Disneyland hotel but I've heard it's amazing

We've always booked the hotel with Disney on 08702 42 60 83 (they work from 8.15 am - 7.45 pm Monday to Friday, from 9.15 am - 5.45 pm on Saturday and from 9.15 am - 4.45 pm on
Sunday)

Have a look at the Hotel FAQ at the top of the board to give you an indication of their location and facilities.
All of the Disney hotels have their fans. There is no doubting the proximity of the Disneyland Hotel to the park. Hence you pay for this in comparison to the other hotels.

Hi, what did you like best about the Sequoia Lodge, we did quite fancy the
Cheyenne, but wasn't sure how far from the park it would be.
Is the best prices for booking any of the disney hotels through Disneyland website direct or can you book elsewhere?

I have stayed in the Cheyenne i found this was a nice hotel and the bus journey was not too long only a few minutes.
I also stayed in santa fe but i found this hard as the buses were always crammed and after a day in the parks i found it to be just that little bit far.

Cheyenne and santa Fe are about 20 mins walk from the park - so not too bad at all. Sequioa Lodge is about 15 so not much difference.

We've stayed at Santa Fe twice and are going to Cheyenne at Easter and S Lodge in summer so cant really comment on these yet but have been in bar at S Lodge and its really nice.

If you book on Disney website i think you pay teh full amount whereas if you phone up to book you only pay a deposit at first and the rest at a later date

Not sure why we preferred SL to the other hotels we've stayed in but there was something lovely about the hotel. It was all wood inside and seemed very warm and just nice. The play area for the little ones was also great and the bit where they take the photos with the characters every morning was also very cute. The people working in the hotel were very nice and helpful (unlike the ones in Newport Bay but maybe the guy in Newport Bay had a bad day)

The swimming pool was also nice although we never used it, just didn't have time to go swimming. The bar is also nice and the restaurants (buffet) were fine as well. Overall it was much more worth the money than Newport Bay.

We also stayed in Cheyenne on our last visit and liked it! We went to the restaurant there for a quick snack but never really ate there. The theme is Western, cowboys etc and quite fun! The playground outside was my DD1's favourite and she also liked the pony ride outside. We had a pleasant experience there but decided to go back to Sequoia Logde in April.

If you go for SL, make sure you book a Montana Room ie. the room in the main building.

one more thing... when we stayed at the Cheyenne, we had bunk beds in the room, not that we used the top bed (DD2 was only 10m old) but it was fun for my DD1 to have a little rest on the top bed

can't help with the booking, I'm sure you can book everywhere but we always book over the phone with Disney - you can pay a small deposit or pay in full whichever you prefer.

The closest as has already been said is the Disneyland Hotel, as it is actually in the park itself.

The Hotel is amazing, we stayed there last February and we all loved it. Didn't want to leave the hotel even to go to the park . Each morning there is a character breakfast that gets your day off to a great start. Plus each time we walked around the hotel we bumped into a character or two. I would definately recommend staying there if you have the budget. We are going to Disneyland at the end of this month but are staying in the New York Hotel as the Disneyland hotel is a bit too expensive.

Hi. We had our first trip in feb and stayed at the New York hotel. The hotel was lovely and the rooms were huge. There are plenty of characters in the hotel. Our children would get a photo with a character before breakfast and when we came out of breakfast, there would be a new character there!!
The breakfasts themselves were fantastic with something for everyone. The staff were helpful and friendly. Highly recommended

JUST GOT TO GIVE THE GRANDPARENTS THE PRICES & ALL THE INFO NOW & SEE WHICH THEY PREFER - THE ONLY THING I COULDN'T BELIEVE WAS THE DIFFERENCE IN FLIGHT PRICES - £2617 ABERDEEN TO PARIS COMPARED TO £895 EDINBURGH TO PARIS FOR ALL 6 OF US - DISGRACEFUL NEVER MIND FINGERS CROSSED WE'LL GET THERE SOMEHOW!!

Bit late coming in on this one - sorry loriscot obviously missed your thread.

You haven't mentioned which of the hotels you've decided on but I thought I'd just mention that the Cheyenne is a superb hotel, second only to the Newport Bay Club in my opinion, where we stayed for a week and had no problem whatsoever with the hotel or staff. LOL
Despite the fact that I have stayed at SL twice last year once in a Lodge and once in the main building, I really don't see what everyone raves over, both times our rooms were shabby and our housekeeping non existant.
In it's favour breakfast has more choice, it has a swimming pool and is closer to the park than the Cheyenne and cheaper than the NPB which is why I will probably end up staying there a third time. But in terms of rating it it's there in joint 3rd with the Santa Fe for me.
I haven't been lucky enough to stay at the NY or DLH yet.
The point is really everyone has their own favourites, I'm willing to concide that maybe we've just been unlucky at SL
My advice go with the hotel that appeals to you and your budget. Another consideration might be the sleeping arrangements, most of the hotels have 2 queen beds per room as standard (there are some exceptions), the Cheyenne has a queen and bunk beds, might be worth considering given the age of your children, I know my 2 never relish the idea of a shared bed.

Glad I don't have your airline bill BTW.

Any Disney Hotel you stay at will have a shuttle straight to the park. It's once you get in the park that the walking starts. I'm always completely shattered after a trip to DLP, but I'm not complaining... wish I was there right now.
